As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our datacenters operational. Your responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, recognizing safe versus unsafe work environments, understanding how critical environment equipment functions, performing maintenance, responding to onsite incidents, and monitoring equipment performance using telemetry and other platforms.

Microsoft’s CO+I is the engine powering our cloud services. As a Critical Environment Technician, you will play a key role in delivering core infrastructure for services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Experience in mission-critical services work or related fields (e.g., data centers, manufacturing, healthcare, oil and gas refineries), or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to travel between data centers in Madrid; a valid driving license is required.

Background Check Requirements :

• Must pass Microsoft, customer, and / or government security screenings, including a Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years.

Preferred qualifications include higher education or trade certifications, proficiency in English, and significant experience in mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an operations specialist in one major area (e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, generators), working independently on advanced tasks.
• Inspect and supervise facility equipment and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions, escalating issues according to policy.
• Use the internal CMMS to track assets and complete work orders.
• Respond swiftly to incidents, leading onsite teams and coordinating repairs.
• Develop and follow emergency procedures, methods of operation, and standard operating procedures related to critical environment operations and incidents.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment following established procedures, with minimal supervision.
• Understand and troubleshoot equipment and systems within your trained discipline.
• Provide guidance to lower-level colleagues in troubleshooting.
• Follow safety, security, and business process requirements to ensure safe and reliable operations.
