We are hiring a Jira Software Engineer to manage the Atlassian stack at Canonical, including administration, configuration, automation, and integration responsibilities. We value high engineering standards, rigorous documentation, and effective stakeholder management. Our goal is to enable engineering and business teams to leverage Jira effectively, work on challenging projects, and make data-driven decisions.

This role is part of the Commercial Systems team, which integrates business systems to ensure reliable data flows and automate processes across the company. We work with various systems, including SaaS solutions like Jira, Salesforce, NetSuite, Greenhouse, GSuite, and others, using tools like Python, Go, Airbyte, and Temporal to improve data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency.

Location: This role can be based anywhere in EMEA time zones.

The role entails
  • Managing the entire Atlassian Cloud ecosystem at Canonical
  • Designing, documenting, and implementing processes and automation in Jira
  • Designing, documenting, and implementing integrations between Jira and data warehouses
  • Creating analytical dashboards for stakeholders to enable data-driven decisions
  • Developing scalable learning resources
  • Collaborating with engineering, operations, and support teams globally
  • Taking ownership of critical escalations and resolving them promptly
What we are looking for in you
  • Strong academic record from high school and university
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira and its ecosystem as an administrator
  • Understanding of Jira usage patterns across technical and non-technical teams
  • Proficiency in Python development
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with diverse teams, remaining motivated and organized
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks
Nice-to-have skills
  • Knowledge of process architecture
  • Experience with complex cross-project automation
