Our team is part of the area Technology, Data and Innovation (TDI) Private Bank. Within TDI, Partnerdata is the central client reference data system in Germany. As a core banking system, many banking processes and applications are integrated and communicate via >

2k interfaces. From a technical perspective, we maintain critical functionality on the mainframe, but build new solutions (REST services, Angular frontend, Big Data and GCP solutions, and more). Next to the maintenance and the implementation of new CTB requirements, the content focus also lies on regulatory and tax topics surrounding a partner / client. We are looking for a mainframe engineer colleague to help us with day-to-day activities.

Your key responsibilities

  • You are part of the development team, responsible for the functional analysis of epics and user stories in strong collaboration with all stakeholders (e.g., business units, operations, development team, Product Owner).
  • You support the design and translation of high-level business requirements into software.
  • You develop software components on mainframe and related environments, e.g., MQ, Liberty.
  • You support the extension of backend architecture, design enhancements, and establish best practices, considering development standards.
  • You will be involved in GCP development during the cloud migration in the long term.
  • You support the product owner and subject matter experts in stabilizing the application pre- and post-production, providing L3 / L4 support in case of incidents.
  • You are willing to work and code actively as part of an agile team, participating in sprint activities and ceremonies after full introduction of agile working on the mainframe side.

Your skills and experience

  • Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, JCL, OPC is essential.
  • Knowledge of Liberty, JAVA, GCP (e.g., Cloud SQL, BigQuery) is an advantage; candidates must have willingness to learn.
  • Basic technical capabilities and infrastructure knowledge (e.g., cloud technology, mainframe migration).
  • Experience with SDLC, Change Management processes.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, etc., across the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong problem management skills : ability to analyze situations, identify solutions, and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Experience working with Agile / SCRUM teams and familiarity with their methods and tooling is an advantage, and required in the future.
  • Knowledge of customer reference data, customer onboarding processes, and regulatory topics like KYC is a bonus.
  • You enjoy working in a team in an independent and target-oriented manner.
  • You are willing to share your experience and explain technical decisions to less experienced engineers or non-technical colleagues.
  • You have very good English skills for professional and informal communication within the team.
