Formación

The Portfolio Management team oversees every solar and BESS project across funds in the UK, Italy, the US, Chile, Spain, Portugal, India, and Poland, aligning with the growth of NextEnergy Capital funds. Situated within the investment management division, the team manages solar projects owned by the Group’s investment vehicles, in collaboration with the asset manager WiseEnergy. The successful candidate will support the development and evolution of management strategies for each fund's portfolio, focusing on solar PV and energy storage systems globally, with particular emphasis on Iberian Countries and Chile.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage specific assets and portfolios to ensure the delivery of the investment case.
  2. Support project handovers from the investment team, ensuring alignment across all involved areas (investment, construction, ESG, fund management, asset management).
  3. Manage key project contracts, including sale and purchase agreements, throughout the investment lifecycle, coordinating with senior team members and the Investment Team.
  4. Draft and review contracts with appropriate legal clauses to safeguard the business.
  5. Oversee information flow for internal and external reporting.
  6. Act as Director of SPVs for assigned assets or portfolios, if required.
  7. Oversee technical, financial, debt management, and commercial activities of WiseEnergy to optimize asset outcomes, comparing performance against contractual scope.
  8. Meet regularly with WiseEnergy to identify risks and discuss action plans.
  9. Report to senior Portfolio Management Team and stakeholders as needed.
  10. Coordinate with WiseEnergy on activities outside routine operations.
  11. Review and support WiseEnergy’s management of all contracts with SPVs, providing support when necessary.
  12. Review periodic performance reports from WiseEnergy, covering technical, financial, debt, commercial, and ESG outcomes.
  13. Assist in negotiating operational contracts (O&M, PPAs, H&S) and selecting contractors.
  14. Identify operational improvements and provide feedback to relevant teams.
  15. Review budgets, analyze variations, and address potential cash shortfalls.
  16. Own financial outcomes of assets/portfolios, including budgeting, revenue optimization, and Opex reduction.
  17. Identify key activities and risks for reporting to stakeholders.
  18. Analyze long-term performance trends and develop short- and medium-term plans for asset health, discussing these with senior management.
  19. Support strategic projects and liaise with WiseEnergy’s team for implementation.
  20. Identify gaps in operational contracts and suggest improvements.
  21. Collaborate with internal teams such as investment, energy sales, construction, and procurement.
  22. Train and supervise Junior Portfolio Managers, if applicable.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and possibly other European languages, with clarity and engagement in both written and verbal communication.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience as an asset or portfolio manager in renewable energy, preferably solar.
  • Experience managing solar assets in Iberia and/or Chile, with knowledge of local markets and key players.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics).
  • Understanding of contractual agreements.
  • Knowledge of Italian is desirable.
