PLEASE NOTE : The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,598.00 per month to $6,458.00 per month.

About the Position

This is a grant funded, full-time, temporary position through June 30, 2026 with the possibility of reappointment.

Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) at Cal State East Bay is hiring a Community Counseling Program Coordinator. The Community Counseling Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Director(s) of the Community Counseling Clinic (CCC) and Executive Director at Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN), coordinates a comprehensive range of activities aimed at enhancing access to counseling services for children and families within the HPN framework. This role is pivotal in connecting HPN community members, local schools, and agencies to the CCC’s services, particularly focusing on organizing and systematizing mental health counseling responsiveness provided by School Counseling / Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and School Psychology / Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) trainees. The Coordinator will conduct on-campus presentations, initial screenings, and spearhead efforts in data collection and reporting to support U.S. Department of Education grant goals.

The Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the CCC, which includes organizing mental wellness workshops, coordinating counseling services at outreach events, and facilitating systematic training programs like STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting). Additionally, this position is responsible for data management, preparing analytical reports to evaluate service impact, and ensuring that all program activities align with grant requirements. This role demands a proactive approach in managing community relations, overseeing administrative tasks, and participating in advisory council meetings to continuously improve service delivery and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

Hayward Promise Neighborhood (HPN) Community Outreach :

• Coordinate and attend HPN and community events with Cal State East Bay, Hayward Unified School District, and City of Hayward; distributing brochures and engaging with the community.
• Meet with parents and families to present comprehensive information about the services offered by HPN.
• Develop collaborative relationships and meet with HPN school administrators and counselors to provide presentations and gather feedback for program improvement.

Community Counseling Clinic (CCC) Coordination :

• Coordinate the scheduling and training of CCC student assistants to support outreach and clinical activities.
• Provide ongoing lead work direction and consultation to student assistants and interns, enhancing their skills and ensuring compliance with clinical standards.
• Coordinate with the Co-Director on clinic operations including editing the CCC Handbook, updating clinical forms, and managing schedules.
• Participate in monthly CCC Advisory Council meetings to discuss operational progress and address challenges.
• Order office supplies, manage inventory, and coordinate with IT to ensure up-to-date information on the CCC website.
• Assist with the preparation of the CCC Annual Reporting and manage other administrative tasks as needed.

School-Based Mental Health Grant Coordination :

• Work with the grant Project Director to direct graduate trainees to grant site practicum placements.
• Receive referrals of underserved school-based populations and guide them to the CCC or provide a list of other places to potentially receive support.
• Provide administrative support to the grant Project Director and Principal Investigator.

Data Management and Reporting :

• Lead the data collection and reporting process to track program outcomes and make informed adjustments to enhance service delivery.
• Document and track the number of clients served, the engagement levels at events, and the effectiveness of intern placements.
• Prepare and submit detailed quarterly reports summarizing data collected, analyzing trends, and proposing program adjustments as needed.

Other Duties as Assigned :

• Attend weekly HPN staff and relevant network meetings to report, collaborate, and support collective impact efforts, and participate in trainings and conferences.
• Represent HPN and CSUEB across university and community events.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree and / or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and / or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
• General knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and / or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field, or equivalent training and administrative work experience.
• Strong Interpersonal skills.
• Apply sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality and initiative in performing tasks and representing HPNs.
• Recognize when information is appropriate for public distribution and when it needs to be kept confidential.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• A Master's Degree in Counseling or related field (or in the process of obtaining), professional license or credential such as Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LPCC), Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with ability to consult (under supervision of CCC faculty and clinical supervisors) with CCC trainees regarding cases.
• Knowledge of Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and display strong campus, schools, and community relationship skills in representing Educational Psychology's Community Counseling Clinic (CCC).
• Ability to work in a confidential environment, maintain client confidentiality, and work within legal and ethical guidelines.
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Strong computer / technology skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Excellent interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment, with emphasis on social justice and human rights.
• Ability to use statistical analysis software for data analysis and online surveys.
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including some evenings, weekends, on and off-campus.
• Ability to calmly respond to crisis situations.
• Maintain professional boundaries with CCC clients, trainees, and student assistants.
• Ability to consult with Clinical Supervisors as needed.
• Ability to share constructive ideas for the improvement of the CCC.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.
• Visual acuity associated with concentrated computer use.
