Job Description:

The Infrastructure Instrumentation organization is seeking a Software Engineer in Europe to develop and maintain instrumentation agents and integrations for products like Kafka and MySQL. The role involves working on open source projects using Golang or Rust, focusing on simplifying observability through open source frameworks such as OpenTelemetry.

We promote asynchronous communication, independence, and strong human relationships through team ceremonies and in-person gatherings when possible.

Responsibilities:
  1. Build, maintain, and scale Rust and Go clients and support tools.
  2. Contribute to open source projects to enhance skills and reputation.
  3. Collaborate with team members to improve services and explore new tools.
  4. Ship software incrementally, maintaining continuous feedback.
  5. Participate in an agile, DevOps environment, including support rotations.
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience, with a passion for open source, Linux systems, software architectures, and Rust.
  • Autonomous, cross-functional, and agile mindset for fast-paced environments.
  • Self-motivated with quick learning, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and share code ownership.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Unix OSes and Windows.
  • Contributions to open source projects like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, databases, or HTTP servers.
