We are currently seeking a public cloud experienced engineer for planning, designing, and implementing next-generation cloud infrastructure solutions. The Cloud Engineer will be part of the Engineering team and will require strong knowledge of application monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, automation, maintenance, and service reliability improvements.

Responsibilities
- Design, automate, and manage a highly available and scalable cloud deployment enabling development teams to deploy and run services.
- Automate operational tasks using tools like Cloud Shell, Cloud SDK, or Cloud APIs, including scripting, templates, or workflows for deployment, scaling, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Design scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure.
- Define architecture patterns including virtual networks, subnets, security groups, and resource groups.
- Set up and configure virtual machines, storage, databases, and other cloud resources.
- Automate deployments and manage applications in GCP extensively.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions, leveraging scalability, high performance, and security.
- Implement security best practices, including network security groups, firewalls, and encryption.
- Plan and implement disaster recovery strategies, including automated backups and data retention policies.
- Design the architecture of the self-hosted cloud platform, considering scalability, performance, and security.
- Deploy, configure, and manage components of the self-hosted cloud platform, including virtualization, networking, storage, and orchestration tools.
- Modernize existing on-premises solutions and improve existing systems.
- Develop and maintain cloud solutions following best practices.
- Ensure efficient data storage and processing in accordance with security policies and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize, develop self-healing capabilities, and develop strong observability.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues.
- Review systems regularly and recommend improvements.
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, develop solutions for self-healing, and support teams to address issues promptly.
- Lead a team of cloud engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Evaluate and select third-party tools and services.
- Manage relationships with cloud service providers.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in designing, deploying, and operating mid to large-scale public cloud environments.
- Experience in designing, deploying, and managing self-hosted cloud platforms.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Golang, Python, Bash, Terraform).
- Experience with package configuration and deployment management via Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform Enterprise or community edition.
- Experience writing custom Terraform providers/plugins with Sentinel Policy as Code.
- Knowledge of GCP security features, including IAM, VPC, firewall rules, and encryption.
- Proficiency in GitHub DevOps tools (CloudBuild is an advantage).
- Proficiency in scripting and coding languages such as Python, GoLang, Java, JavaScript, Node.js.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Knowledge of security best practices for self-hosted environments.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure components: compute, storage, networking.
- Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and micro-libraries.
- Experience with cloud monitoring and logging.
- Experience with distributed storage technologies like NFS, HDFS, Ceph, S3, and resource management frameworks like Mesos, Kubernetes, YARN.
- Experience with automation tools is a priority.
- Professional certifications are an advantage.
- GCP knowledge is a plus.
Languages: English at an advanced/high level.
