Field Service Technician - Electrical - SP / HFS in Portugal

Objectives

In order to strengthen our local Service team, we are looking for one Field Service Technician. The position provides timely and efficient machine repair, installation, upgrade, and training services for customers as the front-line representative of the above Bobst entity. Additionally, in order to strengthen Bobst’s competitive position in the customer’s plant, the Field Service Technician is expected to provide valuable business updates to support new selling opportunities.

Position Summary and Main Responsibilities

  • The Field Service Technician is the front-line representative and the backbone of an extensive support network of personnel and assets worldwide.
  • The Field Service Technician provides repair, installation, relocation, troubleshooting, customer education, training, preventive maintenance, productivity improvement program (PIP), and general support for Bobst machinery installed at customer facilities throughout the above geographical area.
  • The Field Service Technician works closely together with the local technical support team and / or with the related teams in the production facilities in Switzerland.
  • The Field Service Technician completes and submits timesheets within the expected timeframe.
  • The Field Service Technician submits clearly written, accurate, and complete job, installation, and technical reports.
  • When not travelling for work, the Field Service Technician has to be available to remote support the Technical Service department.

Competencies, Skills and Personal Attributes

  • More years of professional experience in plant engineering & maintenance and have professional experience in field service.
  • Have good electronic and electrical problem-solving skills in repair and maintenance.
  • Know Bobst Mex, machines.
  • Have good technical understanding and manual skills.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical drawings and machine layouts and excellent knowledge and interpretation of the electrical and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Work carefully, with attention to detail and solution-oriented. Being able to work both independently and in a team.
  • Feeling comfortable using Office 365 and excellent use of the laptop.
  • Live centrally in the area above specified and willing to travel throughout the selected region (with hotel stay if required).
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a valid passport.

Education and Languages

  • Mandatory technical school graduate electro mechanic (with basic knowledge of electronics).
  • Speak and write fluently in Spanish and English. Another language is considered a plus.
  • More years of related technical experience in a similar role within the printing and converting equipment industry.
  • Acceptable levels of electrical and mechanical operating machine experience.

  • The Field Service Technician is persuasive. He or she listens intently to what the customer is asking, lets the customer vent, and, without getting defensive, addresses expected machine downtime and estimated labor if requested.
  • The Field Service Technician holds a job completion meeting to summarize the work performed, agree on billing, and obtain a customer signature. He or she has an open, honest communication with the manager and displays confidence even when not sure of the solution.
  • The Field Service Technician maintains open dialogue throughout and speaks clearly and understandably to the best of his ability.

  • The Field Service Technician contacts his / her Regional Service Coordinator or Customer Service Manager for assistance; thinks ahead to anticipate problems; communicates bad news as soon as possible; balances technical repair needs with good service to meet customer and Bobst expectations. Plans the travel schedule to be cost-sensitive to expenses and efficient use of time. Maintains appropriate safety measures.

If the necessary parts are not on site and delivery times are unacceptable to the customer, he / she drives to source local components to get the machine running as soon as possible. He / she is dependable and respectful. He / she displays confidence, good cheer, and wears a clean, authorized uniform. One of the keys to his success is the ability to display empathy (the customer recognizes that you understand their problem and that you will operate with urgency to repair the machine as soon as humanly possible).   • The Field Service Technician embraces the initiative to maintain and upgrade skills on machine expertise, particularly with developing technology; develops computer keyboard, email, PowerPoint skills, carries a laptop that stores reference and training materials to make training and repairs more efficient. Sets goals to improve skills, targets a new job, cross-trains to a new machine or specialty area. Completes an annual development plan with the manager, improves English speaking and writing skills, attends and passes prerequisite courses, and asks for feedback on a periodic basis.
