Preclinical Pharmacology Senior Postdoctoral Scientist GOA (Oncogenesis and Antitumor Drug Group) is a research group of the Sant Pau Institute of Biomedical Research (IIB Sant Pau) lead by Dr. Ramon Mangues. We are focused on the development of cancer mouse models and to the study of novel nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery applied to the treatment of solid and hematologic neoplasias.

Nanoligent is a biotech company, spin-off of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the Sant Pau Institute of Biomedical Research (IIB Sant Pau) of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona. We are dedicated to drug design and development of targeted-therapeutic biologics (we are developing a new protein-based nanotechnological platform to deliver a high-quality therapeutic lead candidate with a high potential for success in clinical oncology.

We are looking for :

A Biomedical Scientist with more than 5 years of research experience both in Academia and Industry, focussed on novel anticancer therapies.

Tasks :

1. Design and validate in vitro and in vivo models of human and mouse tumors to investigate drug efficacy and PK / PD.
2. Use immunology techniques to support in vivo and ex vivo analysis of animal tissues.
3. Design and execute drug mechanism-oriented experiments to drive forward preclinical research using a wide variety of molecular and cellular methods.
4. Data analysis and interpretation of results as required.
5. Write reports, manuscripts, project summaries, funding applications and prepare, deliver and effectively communicate presentations of the results in internal meetings and research conferences.
6. Manage all technical work, both internal and external collaborations related to the experiments conducted by the in vivo team.
7. Participate in company’s scientific meetings.
8. Strong technical and computational abilities.

Requirements :

1. PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedicine or related field.
2. Official Certificate to use of animals for scientific purposes.
3. Minimum 3 years of hands-on in vivo pharmacology experience in academic or industry environment. Extensive knowledge of in vivo animal models in oncology.
4. Experience in cellular and molecular biology (cell culture, genomics, proteomics, immunoassays and flow cytometry).
5. Proficiency in mouse handling and dosing (intravenous).
6. Highly motivated, methodical, results-oriented and organized candidates.
7. Fluent in Spanish and English.
8. Problem-solving mindset and used to performing in deadline driven environment.

We offer :

Full-time position for the development of a 3-year collaborative research project between GOA and Nanoligent.

Involvement in the drug development strategy of a fast-growing biotech start-up, with potential to continue in the company beyond the 3-year project.

Lab located in the IIB Sant Pau (C / Sant Quintí 77, 08041 Barcelona) with close collaboration with Nanoligent’s team.

Starting date : 1st June 2025.
