A global CRO leader based in Spain is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive new business opportunities and expand existing client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors, fluency in French and English, and proficiency in Salesforce.com. Formación

  • At least 3 years of sales experience in a fast-paced environment.

Director of Business Development

Home-based in Spain

We're seeking a driven, self- motivated, sales oriented, passionate, organized, and determined to succeed Director of Business Development to join our growing team.

As a Business Development Director, you will gain great knowledge and experience about in the CRO, Pharmaceutical & Biotech industries.

This role will focus on opening and expanding existing clients, driving new business opportunities and achieving sales targets.

You will maintain Salesforce.com database and ensure that all client meetings, RFP information and relevant updates are captured and maintained within Salesforce.com. This is essential for the position.

Responsibilities : Client management

Research and gather intelligence on target market sectors / organizations and contacts as part of the sales process

Focus on opening new clients and expanding existing clients - focusing on companies whose pipeline match our expertise or business goals

Achieve agreed sales target, as well as number of client calls and visits

Prepare and achieve sales plan

Develop and maintain existing and new relationships with key decision makers at targeted accounts

Maintain high level of understanding, of the decision making process with all major sponsors

Ensure that all proposal / contract details, client meetings, RFP (Request for Proposal) information and relevant updates are shared between the clients and the company

Develop relationship with leads or prospects to generate RFPs

Organise clients meeting, organise congresses, as needed

Establish and maintain contacts with operational departments as needed

Acts ethically to represent Linical

Follows sales process to streamline, coordinate and lead opportunity activities cross functionally

Proposal development

Demonstrate cross functional collaboration with the functional heads beyond proposal development process

Review the proposal drafts to provide input on strategy and pricing level

Support the proposal management to ensure that all internal information will be delivered on time

Interact with the clients to collect necessary information, whenever applicable

Submit proposal to the client and follow up during the entire CRO selection process

Manage and Lead the Bid Defence Process

Take responsibility for drafting the BDM slide deck and work cross functionally

Obtain all relevant information from the sponsor

Organise meeting in accordance with the sponsor’s schedule

Collaborate with participants of the presentation

Prepare rehearsals as requested and necessary (3 minimum)

Ensure regular communication with clinical project teams in order to secure the potential for repeat business and maximise opportunities for feedback.

Support the contract process and collaborate with legal department

Attend conferences, symposia and exhibitions

Maintain Salesforce.com database

With all relevant information related to leads, RFPs, proposals, email (client and internal), territory business plans, meetings, conference call as applicable

Ensures that all client meetings, RFP information and relevant updates are captured and maintained within Salesforce.com. This is essential for the position.

The right candidate must have the following experience :

Speak fluent French & English. Any additional languages would be a plus

University degree in Natural Sciences / Medicine or a university degree in Business or comparable experience or education, and profound knowledge in clinical development, pharmaceutical, biotech industry.

Have at least 3 years of sales experience and be a self- motivated person, capable of adapting and facing constant challenges within a fast- paced environment.

Must have strong presentation and writing skills

Previous BD or sales experience within the CRO or Pharmaceutical arena would be highly advantageous
