Formación

How will you make an impact in this role

  • Lead Amex's EU AI Act Centre of Excellence (CoE), including developing and implementing comprehensive AI governance frameworks to ensure compliance with the EU AI Act, integrating technical governance and legal requirements, and signposting other applicable regulations.
  • Oversee the full AI system lifecycle to ensure Amex's AI systems deployed in the EU meet regulatory requirements and perform as intended.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding EU AI Act compliance and line of defense AI governance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Guide owners across Amex's business units and functional teams through AI governance frameworks to ensure compliance with the EU AI Act.
  • Ensure outcomes of the EU AI Act governance process, including AI system risk classifications, are properly documented and maintained.
  • Assist the business with preparing for AI-related exams, compliance tests, audits, and notify and engage relevant teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and developments related to AI and AI risk management, working with business leaders to evaluate and implement improvements.
  • Partner with Legal Counsel to monitor AI regulation developments and translate guidance into company processes.
  • Educate teams on the EU AI Act and their responsibilities through learning programs and guidance materials.
  • Provide transparency through accurate reporting on risks, issues, control deficiencies, and compliance status.
  • Develop and nurture talent within the EU AI Act CoE, focusing on professional development and upskilling.
  • Represent American Express in external forums, sharing insights and collaborating on regulatory activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in non-financial risk management, compliance, or related fields.
  • Proven expertise in AI governance and compliance, especially regarding the EU AI Act.
  • Hands-on experience establishing AI governance policies, controls, and workflows.
  • Expertise in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation for AI systems.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset, open to new ideas and teamwork.
  • Analytical skills with a focus on operational challenges and controls.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work seamlessly across functions and borders, building trust and effective relationships.
  • Critical thinking and data-driven problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of machine learning, data science, and AI technologies.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields such as AI, Data Science, Law, Cybersecurity, Policy, or Risk Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of machine learning, data science, and AI technologies.
  • Familiarity with AI governance platforms and tools.
  • Experience in the financial industry and knowledge of relevant regulations.
  • Certifications in AI governance or risk management.
