Introduction

A Digital Sales Manager career within IBM means being a leader—setting the tone for collaboration, innovation, and growth across your team of digital sales specialists, development representatives, and technical experts. It involves cultivating a 'one team' culture across IBM sales and marketing teams, third-party ecosystem sales partners, and clients within your markets or territories, with a focus on delivering client value.

With ownership, accountability, and autonomy over your territory's strategy, you'll partner with sales and technical leaders across IBM and our selling partners to identify leads, close deals, and expand customer relationships. Excellent onboarding and ongoing development will support your success in our fast-paced, supportive sales environment, surrounded by leaders and colleagues committed to helping you scale your business and your team.

Your Role and Responsibilities

You will inspire and motivate your digital sales team and broader sales / marketing network through the entire sales process. Using best-in-class digital and traditional selling techniques—from lead nurturing and social selling to outreach—you'll facilitate opportunity landing, from MQL identification to deal closure, product deployment, and user adoption growth.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

  • Sales Play Guidance : Understand IBM's sales plays and value propositions, guiding your teams in digital communication.
  • Cultivate a Results-Driven Culture : Identify obstacles and best practices in digital sales to foster a results-oriented environment.
  • Operational Excellence : Manage KPIs, streamline processes, and optimize resources for efficiency.
  • Sales Meetings and Reviews : Conduct regular meetings and quarterly reviews focusing on core metrics.
  • Inspirational Leadership : Lead by example to create a culture of sales and social selling excellence that delivers value to clients and sponsors.

Preferred Education

Master's Degree.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Team Leadership : Proven experience building, leading, and inspiring teams with a growth mindset, exceeding sales quotas in Data and Automation Platform software, with proficiency in at least one (bonus for multiple) and understanding their interconnections.
  • Technical Acumen : Ability to align client needs with technical solutions and articulate business value clearly.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills : Strong skills in networking, co-creation, and influencing senior stakeholders to close deals from $20k to over $500k.
  • Agile and Modern Sales : Experience with agile techniques and modern sales methodologies, delivering solutions swiftly and guiding customers effectively.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Experience with IBM's products and services (training will be provided).
  • Proven track record managing distributed software teams and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience in multinational or cross-cultural environments is a strong plus.
