We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced DevOps Team Lead Director to join our Global Clinical Operations (GCO) team. In this role, you will lead the Novartis Clinical Vault (Veeva) GCO IT group and own all Veeva platform activities for the GCO IT team. You will work directly with Technical Product Owners, Business Analysts, Project / Release Managers, and a broad ecosystem of internal and external partners to ensure optimal outcomes for the Global Clinical Operations business community.

You will be responsible for the delivery of NCV releases, platform optimization, supporting audit-related activities, managing vendor relations, operational budgets, and maintaining strong relationships with business stakeholders. As part of the GCO IT Leadership Team, you will engage in strategic initiatives and cross-team activities. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as a team lead.

Engage with global business leaders and leverage the appropriate DDIT teams and functions to ensure smooth operational enhancements with the right quality and timelines.

This role contributes to shaping, evolving, and driving the organization's strategy, aligning objectives with technology strategy development, solution discovery, service, risk, and relationship management.

Acts as the Global Product Line Lead for NCV, responsible for maximizing the value and utilization of the product line. Owns all technical aspects of the product lifecycle in close partnership with the Business Product Manager.

Develops the technical product roadmap—from ideation to development, adoption, and value realization—prioritizing features to deliver maximum business value through minimum viable products.

Represents the business and customer strategy within the DDIT organization to recommend and influence platform and product investments and roadmaps.

The Director GCO NCV ensures DDIT global and local demand is captured from the business and collaborates with other DDIT functions to deliver quality services to stakeholders as per service agreements.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Proactively shape the change portfolio and technology roadmap (3-5 years). Drive innovation within the business regarding tech-driven capabilities and processes, leading with a consulting mindset.
  2. Accountable for program, project, and product delivery. Partner with the business to drive transformation programs enabled by technology, co-owning transformation outcomes.
  3. Measure and drive the business value of transformation initiatives. Develop cross-silo knowledge across business functions and ensure accountability.
  4. Improve engagement with DDIT for the business. Manage DDIT budgets and help the business understand their technology costs.
  5. Partner with countries or sites to balance global and local investments and needs. Own risk management for investments and operations, ensuring business continuity.
  6. Ensure the technology transformation journey supports business objectives efficiently. Contribute to shaping strategy and future direction for GCO NCV.
  7. Serve as the point of escalation, review, and approval for key issues. Responsible for operational objectives and medium-term planning aligned with long-term DDIT strategy.
  8. Articulate business strategy and customer experience. Co-create the product vision and roadmap with the Business Product Owner.
  9. Identify and prioritize features for delivery through the Product Backlog, ensuring the Development Team understands backlog items.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or IT-related field or technical discipline; MBA optional.
  • Over 15 years of experience in an IT environment.
  • Extensive project and change management experience.

Experience / Professional requirements

  • Prior Veeva knowledge is essential, preferably in Clinical Vault.
  • Understanding of the DevOps model.
  • Ability to scale teams as needed.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and collaborating across boundaries.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or regulated industries.
  • Relationship management skills, leveraging digital technology and big data, with multinational experience and senior management interactions.
  • Proven track record of delivering global solutions at scale.

LANGUAGES

  • Business fluent in English (written and spoken).
