The Developer Experience Engineer at Openchip will be the voice of external and internal developers using our AI OS SDK. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, documentation, community engagement, and product thinking. You’ll ensure that our SDKs, APIs, and tools are discoverable, ergonomic, and delightful to use - through polished tutorials, clear documentation, seamless onboarding, and constant feedback loops with users. Ideal candidates are strong Python developers with a background in AI / ML tooling, who also love building content, writing great READMEs, hosting webinars, and shaping the developer narrative. You'll work closely with our compiler, optimization, and runtime teams to make sure every library we ship is easy to adopt, well-documented, and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities :
- Own the developer experience for the Openchip SDK : from documentation, tutorials, and examples to usability testing and feedback collection.
- Write and maintain clear, well-structured documentation (READMEs, usage guides, and API references) that reflects real-world use cases.
- Build end-to-end example projects showcasing how to train, optimize, and deploy AI models using our stack.
- Advocate for SDK ergonomics and simplicity by filing issues, proposing API improvements, and ensuring cross-team alignment on developer-facing design choices.
- Actively engage in Discord, GitHub Discussions, and community forums to answer questions, collect feedback, and drive adoption.
- Record technical walkthroughs, host webinars, and contribute to blog posts or conference content to promote Openchip’s tools and libraries.
- Work closely with internal engineers and researchers to stay up to date with evolving infrastructure and ensure documentation reflects the latest best practices.
- Help define and maintain developer style guides, doc standards, and onboarding workflows for contributors and users.
Qualifications :
- More than 5 years of experience as a software engineer or developer advocate, preferably in ML / AI or Python SDK ecosystems.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with a proven ability to create and document developer libraries or tooling.
- Experience training and deploying machine learning models, ideally including LLMs or model optimization workflows.
- Deep familiarity with common ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, ONNX, etc.) and open-source library conventions.
- Excellent written communication skills; comfortable writing Markdown, Sphinx, or similar doc systems.
- Experience using or maintaining open-source projects and engaging with developer communities.
Soft Skills :
- Clear, concise communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into approachable developer content.
- Empathetic mindset toward developers : cares about making others successful and lowering friction at every step.
- Self-driven and highly organized, capable of shipping content, tooling, and documentation without micromanagement.
- Passionate about shaping how AI infrastructure is adopted and used by real engineers and researchers.
- Comfortable being visible in the community and acting as an ambassador for Openchip’s mission and tools.
