About the Resilient and Climate Neutral Regions Cluster

Founded in 2023, this cluster supports regions in becoming resilient and climate neutral through place-based systems transformation. It focuses on four thematic areas: Climate Smart Food Systems, Earth Observation for climate services, Climate Smart Forestry & Bioeconomy, and Climate Resilient Regions.

The Climate Smart Forestry & Bioeconomy Team, nested within RCNR, aims to transform landscape management and related value chains to maximize climate, biodiversity, and economic impacts, especially for forestry and peatlands. The team manages projects like TimberHAUS, CSFEP, and Informa, and promotes innovation using the 3S Framework.

About the Role

The Designer and Producer role focuses on landscapes from a systemic perspective, requiring skills in forestry & peatland domains, complex project management, and collaborative business development through multi-stakeholder funding and partnerships. The ideal candidate is innovative, comfortable with complexity, and systemic approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-lead the development of the Climate-smart forestry & bio-economy theme, including systemic activities aimed at transforming sectors to address climate change challenges, with a focus on place-based action.
  • Develop and implement bioregional and landscape-integrated programs to promote regenerative and resilient solutions, including Horizon Europe projects like TIMBERHAUS and INFORMA.
  • Lead the creation of unique service offerings or initiatives led by Climate KIC.
  • Extract learnings from activities and translate them into concrete actions.
  • Participate in fundraising by preparing project proposals with team members and partners.
  • Provide advisory support to policymakers and stakeholders on climate-smart landscapes and regional bioeconomies.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Advanced degree in Landscape Management, Forestry, Environmental Engineering, Climate Science, Environmental Science, Architecture, or related fields.
  • 5-10+ years of proven experience in project delivery and management.
  • Strong knowledge of EU climate policies, land use, carbon, and industrial policies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and public-private partnership facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate insights into regional policies and strategies.
  • Experience in fundraising activities.
  • Excellent planning, organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills under pressure.
  • Ability to work at a systemic level with multiple partners and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to develop others and invest in capacity building.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in another European language is a plus.
  • Listening, empathy, human-centered design, agility, empowerment, and collaboration skills.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, resilience, and ability to work effectively in ambiguity and complexity.
