Formación

The Principal Engineer applies engineering skills to solve complex problems, utilizing knowledge of Ecolab's customers and markets. They coordinate innovative, complex projects to meet cost and time objectives, adhering to design criteria and standards.

Objectives
  1. Support development of Total Water Management (TWM) opportunities by partnering with Senior Design Engineers to provide project engineering support, including developing mass balances, process flow sheets, preparing proposals & estimates (CAPEX/OPEX), and offering technical and commercial support during client meetings.
  2. Build long-term relationships with internal and external customers by understanding their key business drivers; high emotional intelligence is required.
Recommended Profile
  1. Education: Degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Minimum 5 years experience in designing and supporting the sale of water and/or wastewater equipment and systems, including clarification, filtration, membrane separation, RO/UF, DAF, solids separation, metals removal, and biological treatments for industrial clients.
  3. At least 2 years of proven project execution experience.
  4. Familiarity with water treatment plant commissioning and start-up.
  5. Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  7. Commercial mindset and financial acumen.
  8. Synthesis and pragmatic approach.
  9. Ability to manage conflict and work under pressure.
  10. Problem-solving skills.
  11. Willingness to travel up to 50% for project discovery, development, and solution presentation.
  12. High proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office; AutoCAD is preferred.
Principal Accountabilities
  1. Report functionally to the TWM Engineering Manager within the Commercial Engineering organization.
  2. Based in Spain, France, or the Netherlands, maintaining regular contact with the supervisor.
  3. Proficient in a wide range of water treatment technologies and experienced in designing water treatment systems, including preparing mass balances, flow sheets, water mapping, equipment selection, costing, and supporting commercial discussions.
  4. Familiar with engineering drawings (P&ID, General Arrangement, Isometric sketches, data sheets, troubleshooting lists, electrical and automation drawings).
  5. Ability to analyze water and wastewater systems from mechanical, operational, and chemical perspectives, proposing solutions that meet customer needs and regulatory standards.
  6. Proactively engage with clients and colleagues to determine project needs, evaluate business models, and develop project specifications.
  7. Supervise or conduct site surveys, conceptual and basic design, ensuring optimal technical and economic solutions balancing OPEX and CAPEX.
  8. Use technical expertise and financial insight to support project qualification, optimizing resource allocation for high-probability success projects.
  9. Manage project budgets, communicate effectively with peers and managers about issues, and improve construction methods when necessary.
  10. Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels within Nalco and externally (customers, contractors).
  11. Experience with plant operation and maintenance is advantageous.
  12. Maintain customer relationships, coordinate technical and business issues, and support account renewals.
  13. Assist with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and improvements for existing O&M contracts.
  14. Be familiar with international standards and norms for equipment construction and certification.
  15. Be aware of safety and environmental legislation and standards.
