A prominent publishing organization is seeking a Deputy Editor to assist in the editorial operations of the journal. The candidate will manage submissions and peer reviews, develop journal strategies, and foster relationships within the medical research community. This role requires a strong editorial background, medical degree or PhD, and excellent command of English. Flexible working arrangements available.
As an in-house Deputy Editor, you will assist the Editor-in-Chief in all aspects of the organisation and preparation of the journal. You will take ownership of submissions and peer review to ensure we publish high-quality content and train new Editors in the team. You will work closely with other journal editors in the Lancet family as well as our production, marketing, communications, and administration. You will build international relationships with experts in the community to disseminate and discuss practice-changing results from the field.

For this particular role, we do not expect daily attendance in the office but believe that regular in-person team meetings can be beneficial for us all. You will have a clearly defined schedule of work, and the way you use your weekly hours to complete it will be up to you.
