Descripción del empleo

Lead, inspire, and manage the academic affairs staff team formed by academic program directors, academic operations, technology, and library teams. This includes:

Collaborating with Program Directors on faculty hiring, onboarding, assessment, and promotions in coordination with the Office of the Provost, the Valencia Executive Director, and Human Resources.

Developing and maintaining faculty development initiatives for Valencia.

Overseeing Academic Program Review and accreditation processes for Valencia.

Leading supervision of programs offered in Valencia, including curriculum innovation and development:

  • Ensuring program offerings align with Berklee’s mission and vision.
  • Ensuring curriculum relevance and consistency with established learning outcomes.
  • Assessing and monitoring each program's sustainability and contribution to campus mission and vision.

Serving as a member of Berklee academic committees as needed.

Evaluating campus proposals for new or revised programs in consultation with the Valencia Executive Team.

Collaborating on course development with program directors and curriculum committees.

Coordinating with the Library team on curriculum needs and library development.

Overseeing projects with local and external partners.

Serving as a liaison with the Boston campus on policy, graduate education, and pedagogy issues.

Managing Valencia academic operations and registrar services, including:

  • Ensuring compliance with academic policies.
  • Monitoring registration and scheduling effectiveness.
  • Administering guest artist and speaker policies.
  • Monitoring student progress in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Creating and maintaining the academic calendar.
  • Supporting orientation and graduation events.
  • Incorporating DEI principles into academic experiences.
  • Collaborating on health and wellness initiatives.
  • Coordinating commencement celebrations.
  • Supporting enrollment and professional development strategies.
  • Ensuring infrastructure and services meet program needs.

Developing and maintaining relationships with academic networks.

Managing direct reports, including program directors and departmental managers.

Overseeing budgets for academic departments and programs.

Collaborating on campus facilities, budget planning, and legal matters with relevant directors and HR.

Leading academic assessment and accreditation efforts, including:

  • Maintaining program assessment and improvements.
  • Leading program reviews and accreditation processes.
  • Managing relationships with accreditation agencies.

Required experience includes:

  • Passion for music and education, embracing Berklee’s core values.
  • Expertise in higher education with experience in program development and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, managerial, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to foster diverse and enriching relationships.
  • Student-focused attitude.

Additional skills and experience:

  • 3-5 years teaching at post-secondary level.
  • 3-5 years leadership experience.
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Pedagogical and curriculum development expertise.
  • Understanding of the U.S. educational system.
  • International experience.
  • Fluency in English; willingness to learn Spanish.
  • Appreciation of music and diversity in curricular and student support offerings.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Advanced degrees in music or related fields.
  • Experience in music or performing arts institutions.
  • Experience managing academic programs and teams.
  • Experience with accreditation processes.
  • Musicianship and understanding of the music industry.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
