Formación

The Challenge

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Science Manager to lead and grow a team of talented data scientists. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall direction and success of data science initiatives across the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their business needs, translate them into actionable data science projects, and deliver impactful solutions that drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.

What You Will Do

1. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
2. Recruit, hire, and onboard top data science talent.
3. Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
4. Build & Own Data Science Roadmap:
5. Define and prioritize data science projects aligned with business objectives.
6. Develop and manage project timelines and resources effectively.
7. Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial scoping and data exploration to model deployment, ongoing monitoring & impact assessment.
8. Technical Expertise:
9. Apply, mentor & review latest data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods & practices.
10. Provide technical guidance and support to the data science team (Python, R, SQL) working with industry leading tools (Amazon Sage Maker, S3, Redshift, Jupyter notebooks and more).
11. Collaborate with engineers and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration of data science solutions into production environments.
12. Stakeholder Management:
13. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
14. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
15. Present data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
16. Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's overall data strategy.
17. Advocate for data-driven decision making across the organization.
18. Promote a data-centric culture within the company.

What We’re Looking For

1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
2. 5+ years of experience in a data science or machine learning role, with at least 3+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership position.
3. Strong proficiency in Python and R.
4. Experience with machine learning algorithms (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, deep learning).
5. Expertise in data mining, data warehousing, and data visualization tools.
6. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
7. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Proven leadership and mentorship skills.
11. Excellent project management and organizational skills.
12. Strong business acumen and understanding of business needs.

Do note that all our jobs are Barcelona based. We follow a hybrid model where flexibility rules. We commit to a minimum of 6 days per month in the office. Each team self-organizes to decide on cadence and in-person / remote rituals.

3. Task / Case Study Submission / Take-home test - you will be assigned a task to submit within 5 up to 7 days where you will be able to showcase your expertise / technical skills required for the role.
4. Expertise Interview - run by the hiring team, focus on the required core skills and the ability to deliver in a given context. This usually takes 60-90 minutes.
5. Stakeholder Interview - run by relevant stakeholders reflecting the reality of the context of the role, focus on the ability to collaborate & deliver in a cross-functional set-up. This usually takes 60 minutes.
6. Culture Interview - run by culture interviewers, focus on adherence to Wallapop's purpose and business proposition. This usually takes 60 minutes.
7. Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing.
