At HEMAV, we are an AgriTech StartUp founded in 2012, working passionately on Data Science in the agrifood industry with the purpose of generating more food with less environmental impact.

We use a unique approach based on Artificial Intelligence using satellite technology and other data sources (drone, meteo, soil, etc.). Users of our technology leverage their decision-making systems on information and knowledge generated on a field-by-field basis, with customized per-user models.

The HEMAV family is currently composed of a team of around 40 persons with offices in Spain, Brazil, Peru, and the USA. We have around 50 regional partners distributed between more than 17 countries in Europe, America, and Africa. More than 5,000 users have access to the platform with service in 6 million hectares.

LAYERS, our software, generates key yield forecasting data and offers analytics to the agricultural sector with a large direct impact. Clients can improve efficiency in treatments, generate yield estimations, and assess quality for different crops. Main challenges faced by our users include crop management, production yield and logistics, economic yield, and climate change risk assessment.

LAYERS helps minimize these risks through high-quality monitoring and predictions. Our slogan is “Reshaping the future increasing land efficiency”.

The LAYERS Product Team comprises 13 members in four squads: DevOps, BackEnd, UX/UI, and Data Intelligence, working in three to four-week sprints with demos for all company updates.

LAYERS consists of a web app, mobile app, and API, forming the core of the customer ecosystem for crop monitoring and business decision-making.

Your mission in HEMAV:

To play a key role in developing software, models, and repositories, and in improving data infrastructure, models, and product development. Collaborate with data scientists, agronomists, analysts, and other experts to design and implement models that will benefit current and future users.

This role involves software development, spatio-temporal statistics, agronomical knowledge, and AI applications. It also includes improving the robustness and scalability of LAYERS.

Specific Tasks include:

  • Design, plan, and implement core and data-related developments for LAYERS, enhancing value, scalability, and robustness.
  • Implement crop-specific and product-specific solutions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain and evolve the toolset following coding standards.
  • Provide technical support for defects and issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and support stakeholders.

Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Work on development tasks with experts across fields to maximize value for users.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies like refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Act as a liaison with internal stakeholders for development-related cases.

Evaluation:

  • Based on team goals following OKR philosophy.
  • Aligned with company goals.

Location: Approximately 3 hours from BCN (Spain) time zone. We value asynchronous work but encourage teamwork and peer programming. If in BCN, you are welcome at the office.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Professional Python development experience in data environments (minimum 2 years).
  • Experience with Docker, AWS cloud technologies (Glue, Athena, S3, Step Functions).
  • Nice to have: MLOps (DVC), MLFlow, Terraform, NoSQL (DynamoDB), spatio-temporal data, Time Series, GraphQL/SQL, CI/CD, unit testing.

Soft Skills:

  • Team player, result-oriented, autonomous, quality-focused, challenge-loving.
  • Comfortable with agile methodologies, user stories, and liturgies.
