The Data Integration Architect plays a critical role in ensuring seamless integration of data across various systems within the organization. As part of the Data Office and embedded in the Enterprise Architecture chapter, the Data Integration Architect will work to connect diverse systems, enabling efficient data flow and interoperability while maintaining a comprehensive, end-to-end view of system integrations.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

As a Data Integration Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data integration solutions that ensure seamless data flow across various systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, identify integration opportunities, and implement solutions using several tools.

In addition to developing integration solutions, you will monitor and troubleshoot data integration issues, providing timely resolutions to maintain system performance within the project phase. You will also document integration processes and create technical specifications as part of our system engineering framework. Staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, you will continuously improve and optimize integration strategies to enhance overall business efficiency together with our enterprise architecture chapter.

System Integration:

  • Design, implement, and manage data integration solutions across various enterprise systems.
  • Ensure the integrity, reliability, and scalability of data flows and pipelines.
  • Support multiple kinds of data integrations: master data, operational or transactional, and analytical.

End-to-End Data Flow Management:

  • Develop and maintain an overarching view of how data moves across the organization's systems.
  • Map dependencies and identify potential bottlenecks or gaps in data integration processes.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Enterprise Architects, IT teams, and business units to align integration strategies with organizational goals.
  • Partner with Data Engineers and other technical teams to implement integration solutions.

Governance and Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards in all integration processes.
  • Define and enforce best practices for data integration and system interoperability.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor integrated systems for performance and resolve issues in data flows promptly.
  • Analyze and address integration-related incidents and risks.

Expertise and Skills

Specialist knowledge, technical skills, and experience:

  • Strong expertise in middleware and integration platforms (e.g., Mulesoft, SAP BTP).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, ETL processes, data warehousing concepts & Lakehouses.
  • Experience with APIs and web services for data exchange.
  • Basic knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
  • Experience in systems engineering and related solution design modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain system integration documentation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google, SAP Cloud).
  • Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Deep understanding of data orchestration tools such as Azure DataFactory or Apache Airflow.
  • Proven experience in system and data integration within a complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and aligning with IT architecture principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Typical Profile / Training Qualification

  • Successfully completed Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or comparable.
  • More than 5 years of professional experience as a Data Integration Specialist.
  • Structured thinking and very good analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high-level view while diving into technical details when required.
  • Advanced English level.
