A data governance firm in Vigo is seeking a Data Governance Engineer to design and implement automated data governance policies. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge in Python and SQL, experience in data management, and a solid background in data quality control. This position requires collaboration with data teams to ensure compliance and optimize data processes, with a focus on security and quality improvements.

Descripción del empleo

You will be responsible for scaling, automation and optimizing HBX data governance policies and processes across all the data live cycle.

This role is a key contributor to deliver and successfully execute the Data Governance Roadmap as will be actively involved in the creation of company data quality foundations by developing and delivering technical solutions related:

- Data Governance & Management policies as code
- Automatic Data Observability and Quality metrics implementation,
- Effective and efficient Metadata Management & Data Catalogue,
- Data Policies and Procedures automation
- Data Security processes and controls automation

Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Head of Data Governance Office,



this role will be responsible to:

- Design and implement automatic Data Governance policies and procedures, bad practices detection and data quality issues prevention in the different layers of the data stack and different phases of the data life cycle
- Design and implement automatic Data Management policies, procedures and controls (policy as code) to avoid data misusage across the organization
- Design and implement automatic Data Quality controls validation, metrics, controls.
- Design and implement automatic Data Observability alerts & workflow s
- In coordination with Data Governance Enterprise Architect, design the optimal data architecture & infrastructure for governed and quality data extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide variety of data sources and platforms using SQL, python, and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
- Build and/or deploy Data Governance tools for Data Analysts and Data Scientists to support them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.

- Computer & Information Science/ Computer Engineering/ Mathematics
- Master/Degree in BI & Data Analytics, Big Data

Experience

- Advanced working Python knowledge (libraries, packages) and experience working with a variety of databases to develop enterprise-level applications and ML apps
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Data Security management (encryption, masking, GDPR, PCI, secrets, SSO, MFA)
- Experience in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Experience in Data systems automation and administration.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.

Technical Skills





- Cloud Data Warehouse Platforms management: Snowflake (preferred) or similar
- Programming languages: SQL, Python, RestAPI
- Data Ingestion / ETL tools: Airflow; Snowpipe, or similar
- Data Transformation tools (SQL or python based): dbt or similar.
- Data management & Governance platforms: Collate/Open Metadata, Collibra, Infosphere, Montecarlo, Informatica or similar
- Cloud Data Visualization Tools: Tableau (preferred) or similar Git repositories: Bitbucket Cloud or similar Gitlab, Github
- Documentation: Atlassian Confluence or similar

Day to day activities

- Govern and manage the overall HBX Data Platform Stack in terms of security, user management, roles and permissions, best practices, and policies implementation.
- Design and implement advanced data governance automated policies (policy as code) and preventive controls to avoid data bad practices.
- Design and implement automatic data governance detective controls and alerts in different tools and processes across HBX organization and technologies.
- Design and implement systems and tools connectivity via API to ensure data platform components interconnectivity, governance, and consistency.
- Design and implement data security policies, roles, permissions and controls to ensure data compliance with countries regulation and laws (i.e.: Privacy, GDPR…)



and internal confidential secrets protection.
- Design, support and provide guidance for the full data live cycle: upgrade, management, decommission and archive of data in compliance with data retention policy.
