MileIQ is searching for a talented and driven Data Engineer for positions available in various locations. As an employee at MileIQ working in the role of Data Engineer, you will contribute to key data engineering projects that require collaboration across multiple teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming abilities, a deep understanding of data engineering principles, and hands-on experience in data modeling and data pipelines. You will have the opportunity to enable data-driven decision-making and automate self-serviceable data products. Responsibilities:

1. Owning core SQL and Python data pipelines that power our data lake and data warehouse
2. Data modeling and building the right optimized, reusable datasets
3. Building, maintaining and optimizing ETL pipelines that power our visualizations
4. Building datasets that focus on data quality, privacy, freshness and reusability across business functions
5. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders including business leads, Squad leads and Engineering leads
6. Delivering or enabling key metric reporting on top of newly built data marts
7. Improving testing and monitoring of analytics operations across warehouses and tooling

Requirements

Ideal

• 3+ years of dedicated data engineering experience, architecting and developing scalable pipelines, frameworks, and solving complex data pipeline issues
• Proficient in SQL, Python, Pyspark, Spark
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud warehouses, unstructured data, distributed data platforms, and data lakes
• Excited about the data space and want to grow modeling and dataset creation skills
• Empathy working with stakeholders, understanding their problems and collaboratively coming up with the best solution
• Familiar with product event tracking design and implementation processes — partnering with product and engineering teams

Preferred

• Experience with DBT
• Experience with CDPs like RudderStack or Segment
• Experience working with APIs
• Strong engineering background and knowledge in CI/CD implementation
• Understanding of machine learning principles and experience with ML/AI systems
• Experience with data privacy, data quality projects
