Descripción del empleo

We are looking for a Data Engineer for our Business Analytics team to form the bridge between our raw business data, with their specific technical and business representations, and the creative data-needs of our Data Scientists and Visualization experts. The engineer will be responsible for managing, optimizing and monitoring data retrieval, storage and distribution throughout the team, thereby supporting our business objectives and fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization. Our data engineer will collaborate with Data Scientists, Visualisation Experts, Business Analysts and IT colleagues in several domains, in order to improve:

  1. Our reaction time towards answering business requests.
  2. The quality and depth of reports and models.
  3. Data availability and quality.
  4. General data engineering knowledge within the team.
Main responsibilities:
  1. Build and maintain data pipelines to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
  2. Build dimensional models to help migrate reports and models from an on-premise Data Warehouse to a new Enterprise Data Hub.
  3. Implement and monitor data quality checks and work directly with end users to understand data quality expectations.
  4. Improve, optimize and monitor data processing efficiency.
  5. Combine raw information from different sources to create new and valuable datasets.
  6. Troubleshoot data-related issues and assist in their resolution.
  7. Monitor cloud costs to ensure monthly budget is respected.
  8. Train and support the team in more technical questions.
  9. Stay on top of new technologies and best practices and implement these in the team.
  10. Ensure compliance with GDPR and privacy restrictions when working with sensitive data.
Required skills:

The role requires a set of technical and interpersonal skills, including:

  1. Bachelor or Master in IT.
  2. 3 years of experience in a data engineering role.
  3. Good knowledge of SQL and database design.
  4. Good knowledge of Python.
  5. Experience with Azure (or similar cloud environment).
  6. Experience with Databricks (Apache Spark).
  7. High level of English (minimum C1).
  8. Strong communication / interpersonal skills to clarify and validate requirements with stakeholders.
  9. Good team player.

Experience in the following is considered an asset:

  1. SqlServer
  2. Google BigQuery
  3. PySpark
  4. Azure Data Factory
  5. Azure DevOps
  6. Good understanding of data modelling methods (data warehouse, data vault, dimensional modelling).
  7. Basic understanding of Data Science principles and theory.
  8. Basic knowledge of Power BI (or other BI tools).
