Overview

Veepee is the unified European conglomerate formed from the vente-privee group and its brands, including Privalia, vente-exclusive, Eboutic and vente-privee, now operating as one organization with around 6000 employees. Present in 10 countries, Veepee achieved a 3.3 billion Euro turnover as of 2024 and leads in the European digital commerce landscape.

As a data engineer you will join one of our Data Science Teams, distributed between Paris, Barcelona and Brussels. The team’s responsibility is to provide forecasts to operational and business entities within Veepee, driving high-priority projects around product pricing, product ranking, warehouse efficiency and search.

Your mission will be to support the team in building data pipelines, deploying machine learning models on a mixed cloud/on-premise architecture, leveraging LLMs, and developing microservices to expose ML-based predictions to customer-facing products.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and maintain high-load APIs on Kubernetes with strong SLA requirements and high business value
• Version, deploy and monitor machine learning models at scale
• In the context of machine learning projects, develop and maintain data pipelines and ensure data quality
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing code and data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Keep improving technical knowledge and expertise by contributing to the Veepee data engineering community, attending conferences, contributing to open-source projects, organizing and attending meetups

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, preferably in the data field
• Strong knowledge of Java, SQL, and Python
• Experience with data processing technologies like Apache Beam (or Flink), Spark, Kafka, etc. is a plus
• Experience with distributed data systems: No-SQL databases (e.g. BigTable), Trino, data lakes (e.g. BigQuery), storage (e.g. GCS / S3)
• Experience working in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Familiar with microservice architecture concepts
• Prior experience deploying containers on Kubernetes and its ecosystem is a big plus
• Proficiency with version control Git
• Experience with tools like dbt is a plus
• Interest in machine learning and data analytics
• A strong team player, willing to share knowledge and help out where needed
• Strong verbal and written English language skills
