We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Centre Technician to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a primary resolver for complex hardware infrastructure issues, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our data centre operations. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimising the technology stack, while also supporting junior technicians and working on automation and documentation initiatives.

If you have a strong understanding of data centre operations, system administration skills, and a passion for solving technical challenges, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hardware Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve hardware issues in servers, networking equipment, and storage devices.

  3. Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensure all hardware is maintained, replaced, and upgraded as necessary to support business operations.
  4. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain technical documentation, and effectively transfer knowledge to junior staff.
  5. Remote System Administration: Perform basic to intermediate system administration tasks, including remote troubleshooting, configuration changes, and monitoring.
  6. Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks, improving efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
  7. Project Execution: Manage small infrastructure projects independently and collaborate with managers on larger-scale initiatives.
  8. Process Improvement & Innovation: Identify opportunities for process optimisation and contribute to the continuous improvement of data centre operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Technical Expertise: Experience with diagnosing and repairing server hardware, storage, and networking equipment.
  2. System Administration: Basic to intermediate knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Windows), remote troubleshooting, and configuration management.
  3. Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to quickly identify and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
  4. Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate tasks.
  5. Documentation & Communication: Ability to document procedures and effectively pass down knowledge to junior technicians.
  6. Team Collaboration: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  7. Project Management: Ability to plan and execute small projects while supporting larger infrastructure initiatives.
  8. Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, process adherence, and maintaining high operational standards.
  9. Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, A+, Linux+, or CCNA.
  10. Experience working in large-scale data centre environments.
  11. Familiarity with ticketing systems and ITIL best practices.
  12. Exposure to cloud infrastructure and virtualisation technologies.
