ENGIE España is seeking a Junior Data Analyst Intern to architect, build, and evolve our operational data perimeter supporting Energy Trading activities. You will transform raw data into reliable insights using cloud-native data engineering, analytics, and AI-driven solutions.

You will work with traders and data scientists to identify and backtest trading strategies, develop forecasting models, and implement data tooling in a real-world energy market environment.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and curiosity for data, markets and technology.
  • Clear communication and teamwork abilities.
  • English language at B2 level or higher.
  • Familiarity with AWS, SageMaker, S3, Python, SQL, and Power BI is a plus.

For our headquarters in Madrid, we are looking for a Junior Data Analyst Intern to architect, build, and evolve our operational data perimeter supporting Energy Trading activities. This role is central to transforming raw operational data into reliable, actionable intelligence through modern cloud‑native data engineering, analytics, and AI‑driven solutions.

Mission

As a Junior Data Analyst Intern / Junior Data Scientist Intern, you will work closely with the D3A team to support the development and deployment of data tools and intelligent analytics solutions.

You will work with traders and quants to help identify, develeop, backtest and productivize trading strategies that generate a positive economic impact to the company.

The candidate will gain hands‑on experience in Data Analytics, AI use cases, Data Engineering practices and Energy Markets by working alongside experienced Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Business Experts in a real‑world trading and energy environment.

Functions
  • Design and enhance Dashboards for operational and strategic use.
  • Structure and document data pipelines and datasets.
  • Monitor and improve data quality through validation checks.
  • Additionally, contribute to AI / advanced analytics initiatives, such as: Creating and supporting forecasting models (demand, price, renewables). Exploring ways to integrate AI tools into decision‑making processes.
  • Provide support in the design and maintenance of forecasting models for prices, generation, demand, and other relevant variables in energy markets.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of Machine Learning models and advanced analytics techniques when they add value to forecasting and analysis processes, having conversations with Data Scientists, Data engineers, Market analysts.
  • Participate in the validation and monitoring of models through backtesting, benchmarking, and results analysis processes, proposing improvements with the support and guidance of the team.
  • Work collaboratively with traders, quantitative analysts, analysts, and data and regulatory teams in the development of new methodologies and business support tools.
  • Prepare and present the results of analyses and developed models in a clear and structured manner, explaining the methodologies used, key assumptions, and interpretation of the results.
  • Gradually acquire knowledge of the operation of Iberian and European energy markets, as well as the quantitative methodologies and tools used within the area. Monitor the evolution of electricity and gas markets, identifying the main factors affecting price formation.
  • Ensure the implementation of and compliance with Health and Safety, Diversity, Cybersecurity, Environmental, Sustainability, Ethics, and Compliance Policies, as well as with the procedures and processes defined by the organization.
  • These functions may be performed in whole or in part by the holders of this position, without prejudice to any other duties that may be assigned to them in accordance with their qualifications, training, and experience.
