Our consulting team delivering GTCC solutions includes highly experienced project managers and trade and customs consultants, several with background as customs officers. We are looking for a Senior Customs Consultant for our GTCC Team in Spain.

A Customs Consultant first and foremost has a broad knowledge of the many facets of international trade and the global flow of goods, which would allow and secure solid client advice in their field of expertise. The Customs and Trade Consultant also possesses great problem-solving skills to provide solutions and recommendations that will increase profitability and efficiency. The goal is to contribute to the clients’ long-lasting success to expand our reputation along with our clientele.

The Senior Consultant acts as the pivotal link between the client and delivery teams with an expert eye on pricing and opportunity strategy. Having a deep understanding of the product but also a clear understanding of customer needs and priorities, the Senior Consultant acts as a strong generator of business through sales enablement to the wider Maersk commercial organization and externally, but also through direct interaction with senior stakeholders within our main customers' offices.

Key responsibilities :

  • Generate consulting business through interaction with the Maersk commercial organization and lead interactions with top customers at a strategic level.
  • Organize and execute assigned business projects on behalf of clients, according to their defined requirements.
  • Set out own direction and work against set targets.
  • Handle and plan own part of projects together with delivery leader in large projects.
  • Meet with assigned clients when needed and perform an initial assessment of a problematic situation.
  • Collect information about the client’s business through various methods (shadowing, interviews, surveys, reading reports, etc.).
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify weaknesses and problems, and comprehend the causes.
  • Formulate recommendations and solutions considering a client’s wishes, capabilities, and limitations, forming concise reports.
  • Present findings and suggestions to clients with ample justification and practical advice.
  • Develop detailed business plans to drive changes.
  • Assist the client in implementing the plan and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide guidance for any occurring problems and issues.

Knowledge / Skills required :

  • 5-10 years of International Trade Experience required.
  • Specific knowledge in Import / Export documentary requirements, classification, and compliance is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written Spanish and English (other European languages a plus).
  • Bid writing experience is preferred to contribute to bid responses in conjunction with bid teams.
  • Experience with Sales / Business Development.
  • Flexibility to travel to clients and internal offices within Europe.
