Are you an expert in plastic part design and passionate about industrialization in automotive? We are looking for a Design Lead to join our team in Pamplona! Your main mission will be to ensure that the design meets the highest standards of quality, functionality, and efficiency for production launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Review and Feasibility
- Receive and analyze customer technical requirements (alignment, interfaces, specifications).
- Evaluate feasibility concerning surfaces, moldability, assembly, recyclability, and painting.
- Propose technical solutions in collaboration with the project engineering team.
- Technical Workflow Management and CAD Coordination
- Supervise daily technical information flow between CAD office, Tier 2 suppliers, and the customer.
- Validate quality and update of CAD files (3D/2D) in the central TDM/PDM database.
- Represent the design team in internal and customer meetings focused on project development and industrialization.
- Design for Manufacturing & Tooling Interfaces
- Collaborate with tooling/molding teams to define fitting zones, tolerances, and reference systems before tool kick-off.
- Support the creation and management of modification and homologation documents.
- Tier 2 Supplier Management
- Deliver 3D requirements, datum schemes, tolerances, and review supplier planning.
- Perform technical design reviews, assess supplier data, and oversee corrective actions.
- Tuning Phase
- Participate in tool trials, cubing, and initial validation of the product.
- Refine designs based on test results and feedback, updating CAD data accordingly.
- Support assembly tests (in-house and at the customer’s plant), including issue analysis and troubleshooting.
- Documentation & Lessons Learned
- Lead design review sessions and maintain action plans.
- Document best practices and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Technical Engineering. FP-level or HNC with relevant experience is also acceptable.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years in CAD design in the automotive sector (preferably with plastics).
- Active participation in industrialization and validation phases of components.
- Technical Skills:
- Mastery of CATIA V5 (3D modeling, surfacing, drawing creation, tolerancing).
- Experienced in PLM/PDM systems and BOM management.
- Understanding of plastic part development, injection molding, and validation/manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with automotive quality protocols (PPAP/APQP).
- Languages: Fluent Spanish and technical English.
- Soft Skills:
- Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
