Job summary

Axpo Group offers a cybersecurity internship based in Madrid, Spain. You will monitor networks and assist in incident response while learning from a collaborative IT team.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in CS/IT/cybersecurity or related experience, with basic security knowledge and a strong desire to learn. English is required; German or Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, networking, firewalls, and security protocols.
• Familiarity with incident response processes, Windows/Linux, and cloud environments.
• Strong communicator and team-oriented mindset, eager to learn and adapt.
• Good knowledge of English; German or Spanish is a plus.
• Ideally, scripting skills (Python, Bash) or knowledge of cloud security principles.

• Support detection, analysis, and response to security incidents, including post-incident investigations and reporting.
• Conduct preliminary analysis of security alerts and assess potential impact.
• Assist in identifying, tracking, and remediating vulnerabilities across infrastructure.
• Help deploy, configure, and maintain security tools from the Azure security stack.
• Maintain documentation of security incidents and procedures, ensuring policy compliance.

What you will do:

• Monitor networks, systems, and applications for security breaches or intrusions using dedicated security tools and platforms

• Support the detection, analysis, and response to security incidents, including post-incident investigations and reporting

• Conduct preliminary analysis of security alerts and help assess their potential impact on the organization

• Assist in identifying, tracking, and remediating vulnerabilities across our infrastructure

• Help deploy, configure, and maintain security tools such as firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, threat intelligence, and phishing simulation/awareness solutions from the Azure security stack

• Maintain clear documentation of security incidents, procedures, and processes, and collaborate with IT and other teams to ensure compliance with security policies

What you bring & who you are:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

• A basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, networking, firewalls, and security protocols

• Familiarity with incident response processes, common operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud environments

• Strong communicator and team-oriented mindset, with eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

• Good knowledge of English, with a desire to improve it – German or Spanish is a plus

• Ideally, you have scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) or knowledge of cloud security principles (Azure, AWS, GCP) – even if you don't meet every point, we look forward to your application
