Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is seeking a Culinary Trainee to join the Culinary Department. Based in a luxury hotel on Passeig de Gràcia, you will support the kitchen team while developing skills in food preparation, hygiene, and hospitality service.

Reports to Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Chef de Partie. The position offers a 40-hour work week, meals during internship, a study allowance of €500 gross per month, and additional internship benefits.

Responsibilities

• Ensure uniform and personal appearance meet hygiene standards.
• Keep knives and kitchen tools clean, sharp, and maintained.
• Prepare and organize daily mise en place for kitchen operations.
• Collaborate with culinary team to ensure smooth service.
• Prepare meats, fish, garnishes, and other food items according to recipes and standards.
• Cook and present dishes in hotel outlets following culinary standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations and kitchen areas per safety regulations.
• Prepare hot and cold food items for various sections.
• Assist in preparing sauces and other components as needed.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
• Carry out cleaning and sanitation procedures for kitchen areas.
• Assist in controlling goods received, ensuring quality and storage standards.
• Demonstrate awareness of waste minimization and cost-conscious practices.
• Observe and practice meat-cutting under supervision of senior chefs.
• Prepare vegetables, salads, starches, and other supporting products.
• Follow and prepare basic recipes while maintaining quality standards.
• Apply different culinary techniques to develop professional skills.
• Support the culinary leadership team to ensure efficient kitchen operations and guest satisfaction.
