NYU Madrid, a branch of New York University, is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to coordinate and administer the activities of the Fundación Rey Juan Carlos I de la Universidad de Nueva York (New York University King Juan Carlos I Foundation or KJC). This includes an annual lecture, semester-long seminar series, and NYU’s Global Research Institute in Madrid, which supports research-related activities such as faculty and graduate student visits to Madrid and funding for workshops and colloquia.
The KJC Program Assistant will be the on-site first contact person to support visiting faculty and graduate students. The Program Assistant will be responsible for planning and coordinating the colloquia, workshops, lectures, and seminar series under the direction of the KJC Board, including the Director of NYU Madrid who is a Board member. Additionally, the KJC may submit grant applications to Spanish and/or EU funding vehicles, and this position will be responsible for coordinating grant applications, record keeping, and bill payments on grant funds.
Required Education: Successful completion of a Master’s Degree.
Required Experience: Previous experience living, working, or studying abroad (preferably in North America). Minimum of 2 years of experience in event organization or equivalent areas. Experience in producing and editing texts in English (such as handbooks, newsletters, etc.). Experience working in a research environment. Excellent intercultural and interpersonal communication skills. Service excellence and delivery of high-quality solutions. Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task with a creative approach to problem solving. A valid work permit for Spain valid through 2020.

Preferred Education: Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities: Genuine interest in getting to know a very diverse set of international students and faculty. Ability to organize and execute academic events for up to 100 participants.
