Job summary

Proexpo is seeking a Financial Controller & Strategic Projects Manager to join our Barcelona-based team. You will lead financial control, analyze profitability by project and client, and drive cross‑functional transformation initiatives alongside the CFO.

You will oversee budgets, reporting, and cash flow while coordinating internal projects across departments. This role blends financial management with business analytics in an international agency setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 4–5 years of hands-on finance experience, preferably in SME environments.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting and P&L analysis.
• Advanced Excel and ERP experience (Odoo a plus).

Responsibilities

• Analyze P&L statements and profitability by project, client and sector.
• Monitor budgets, costs and deviations to improve margins and efficiency.
• Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reports.

Financial Controller & Strategic Projects Manager

At Proexpo, an international brand experience agency, we are entering an exciting phase of growth and strategic transformation.

We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on finance professional who combines strong financial expertise with business acumen, organizational skills, and the ability to drive cross‑functional projects.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to go beyond traditional financial controlling and play an active role in improving how our business operates and evolves.

Reporting directly to our CFO, you will play a key role in ensuring financial control, improving project profitability, and coordinating strategic internal initiatives.

You will combine financial management, business analysis, and cross‑functional project coordination, contributing directly to operational efficiency and business transformation.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Analyze P&L statements and profitability by project, client, and business sector.
• Monitor budgets, costs, and financial deviations, identifying opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
• Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reports to support strategic decision‑making.
• Oversee accounting processes, monthly closings, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
• Support treasury planning, invoicing, payments, and coordination with external accounting advisors.

Strategic Projects & Business Transformation

• Coordinate and monitor key internal transformation and continuous improvement projects across the organization.
• Act as a cross‑functional Project Manager, working closely with the leaders responsible for each initiative.
• Define and track project objectives, milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, ensuring effective execution and accountability.
• Identify potential risks, delays, and deviations, proactively supporting corrective actions.
• Prepare regular progress reports for senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and next steps.
• Contribute to improving internal processes, organizational efficiency, and cross‑departmental collaboration.

What Are We Looking For?

• Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 4-5 years of hands‑on experience in finance, accounting, or financial controlling, ideally within an SME environment (BIG4 is a plus).
• Solid experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and P&L analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Odoo is a plus).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Experience coordinating internal projects, process improvements, or cross‑functional initiatives is highly valued.
• Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate with different departments.
• Working proficiency in English within an international business environment.
