Construction Manager, Design and Construction

Amazon, founded in 1995, aims to be the world’s most customer-centric company, offering a vast selection of products online.

The successful candidate will be a key part of the operations team, responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of new Amazon Delivery Stations (DS), including extensions of existing facilities and new sites. This role is crucial in developing and implementing the EU network infrastructure, analyzing various facility scenarios, and standardizing technical and facility-related processes and systems.

This position combines expertise in construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management. The candidate should have proven experience in the planning, design, and project control of new and existing facilities.

Based in London (UK) or Madrid (Spain), the role involves 50% travel within the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design for Amazon Fulfillment Centers and expansion projects.
• Support projects related to fulfillment network buildings and capacity enhancements within European Fulfillment Centers.
• Lead construction engineering design and remodeling projects.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analyses to define design requirements.
• Survey facilities, develop procedures for audits, and recommend solutions for infrastructure, safety, and security issues.
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and prepare approval documentation.
• Ensure contracts are cost-effective, fit for purpose, and include appropriate SLAs.
• Manage site operations, planning, and coordination of subcontractors.
• Participate in due diligence for new opportunities.
• Coach and guide project teams throughout project cycles.
• Ensure contracted resources meet quality and timeline targets, addressing under-performance.
• Audit contractors for skills and competence.
• Inform contractors of resource or work demand changes.
• Establish and operate information systems for scheduling and recording work.
• Support contractors to improve performance.
• Mentor new team members on best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience managing construction sites during preconstruction or construction phases.
• Experience in project management, real estate development, or architecture/design.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• Proficiency in French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans, or Zulu.
