About the job :

For our growing Automotive division in Azuqueca de Henares (Spain) at the earliest possible date we are looking for a : Commodity Manager Plastics EMEA / APAC.

Reporting to the Senior Director Procurement Automotive your mission will be to lead the procurement strategy and supplier management for plastic components.

What will your daily responsibilities include in this role?

  • Manage commodity Spend of circa 60 M€ (>
  • Define and implement the commodity strategy
  • Generate cost improvements across the Commodity
  • Lead cross-functional and cross-entity teams to implement sourcing projects following the defined strategy
  • Lead / support change management
  • Identify , qualify and develop new suppliers
  • Drive innovation, change and efficiency, lead / support related initiatives
  • Management of selected key suppliers acting as the key account manager for Exide
  • Maintain price tracker, lead supplier performance management within own commodity
  • Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws

And the principal tasks?

Purchasing management :

  • Develop & execute purchasing strategies for the plastics category
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and cost-saving and other improvement opportunities.

Strategic Coordination :

  • End to end ownership and Management of Plastics commodity fostering cross-functional alignment with, Project Management, R&D, Product Owners, Finance and other supporting functions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategic Project Manager to ensure alignment with the overall plastics commodity strategy.
  • Participate in defining strategic projects for the company, including identifying necessary investments.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual budget and long-term investment plan related to the plastic commodity strategic initiatives
  • Systematically share all relevant procurement related information (e.g. updated contractual conditions, Supplier Management data) to ensure all stakeholders are up to date.

Supplier Risk Mitigation and Business Continuity Management :

  • Develop and implement strategies for supplier risk mitigation.
  • Ensure business continuity by identifying and managing potential risks in the supply chain.
  • Work with suppliers to develop contingency plans and ensure their readiness for unforeseen disruptions.

Relationship Management :

  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal teams and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relations with key suppliers with a focus on continuous improvement and development

Process Optimization :

  • Identify and propose improvements in purchasing and supplier management processes.
  • Implement best practices and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that the suppliers focus on developing process and other optimization activities within their organizations and that they report out on their findings and proposals to drive improvements in this area
  • Utilisation of eProcurement tools (eAuction / eBidding) to improve the procurement process and efficiency.

Reporting :

  • Provide effective reporting on key aspects of the plastics commodity.
  • Ensure transparency and accuracy in all reports related to the commodity.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Exide`s ESG policies.
  • Ensure that purchasing strategies align with the company's environmental, social, and governance goals.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to promote sustainable and ethical practices.

What we ask for :

  • Degree in Engineering.
  • Bussiness fluent in English language.
  • Minimum of 5 years in direct purchasing management, preferably in the plastics.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate with different departments.
  • Knowledge of market analysis and purchasing strategy development.
  • Experience in supplier risk mitigation and business continuity management.
  • Familiarity with ESG policies and practices.
  • Availability to travel as required.
