Overview

We're hiring Technical Sales Specialist, DeepTech Biobased Packaging Materials Start-up

Location: Remote (within the EU)

Time dedication: 40 hours per week on a flexible, self-managed schedule

Start date: Sep / Oct 2025

Salary: Fixed circa €60k gross (depending on experience) + performance-based bonus + phantom shares

About Pack2Earth

Pack2Earth is an award-winning, Barcelona-based impact start-up on a mission to replace fossil-based plastic with non-toxic biobased materials for packaging and other uses. We replace the hardest plastic packaging types to make with home compostable biomaterials, which have high barriers to water vapour, oxygen and grease, affording a long shelf-life to the products packaged in them. We work at the cutting edge of material innovation, sustainability, and circular economy principles, and our approach often involves co-development with corporates and partners through R&D collaboration and licensing. We recently closed our 2nd seed round of investment for €1.6m, which provides runway and growth potential we aim to lengthen through sales success.

Role Overview

We are seeking a flexible, entrepreneurial Technical Sales Specialist with strong technical packaging / materials sales knowledge and a personal commitment to sustainability, to spearhead our commercial outreach across Europe and beyond. Your role combines classic sales with opportunity design: selling our existing materials, securing co-development projects with corporate clients, and helping translate innovation into revenue.

This role is ideal for a self-motivated, creative problem-solver who thrives in ambiguous, fast-changing environments and can translate technical material science concepts into compelling client-facing pitches, and then close the deal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development: Sell Pack2Earth's ready-to-go materials to relevant B2B clients, navigate long sales cycles with patience, and front-end project revenue where possible
  • Handle early-stage outreach, relationship building, deal closure, and account growth
  • Maintain and update CRM and pipeline tracking systems (Hubspot)
  • Negotiate sales and licensing agreements for formulations with clients, with support from our co-founder who is a corporate lawyer
  • Client-Centered R&D Opportunity Generation: Identify and shape joint R&D projects with corporates and other companies
  • Work closely with the technical team to align client needs with material development pipelines
  • Client Communication & Storytelling: Create presentations, pitch decks, and supporting materials
  • Present and pitch to potential clients and partners in a clear, compelling, and confident manner
  • Translate scientific concepts into understandable, actionable business value
  • Strategic Input: Provide market and customer feedback to inform product strategy and R&D roadmap
  • Represent Pack2Earth at events and conferences

What We're Looking For

  • Native or near-native fluency in English and at least business-level Spanish (spoken and written). Catalan would be an advantage
  • Clear, confident, and persuasive verbal and written communication. Ability to adjust tone and language for different audiences and cultures
  • Experience in technical or consultative B2B sales, ideally in packaging, materials, biotech, or sustainability
  • Technical background (materials science, packaging, bio-based products, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a start-up context without corporate structure or stability
  • Experience in licensing or co-development business models
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills (visual and verbal)
  • Strong resilience and emotional intelligence to handle slow or frustrating sales cycles. A desire to understand the customer’s business and problems
  • Continual learning and self-improvement
  • Honest and ethical behaviour to build long-term trust and reputation
  • Creative mindset for identifying and structuring R&D co-development opportunities and possibly for managing internal side projects which help add features to our materials to facilitate sales
  • Full EU work authorisation or a quick route to obtain it, and willingness to travel regularly
  • Existing corporate network in food, agriculture or packaging industries or similar
