Role Overview : This role involves leading a Professional Services (Field Engineering) team, helping customers implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The team covers technologies from Ubuntu to virtualization, Kubernetes, MLops platforms, and more, expanding into industries like telco, finance, healthcare, and media.

Candidate Profile : An engineering manager should be a strong engineer, capable of troubleshooting, technical presales, and contributing to project delivery, while focusing on team direction and soft skills growth.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels.
  • Manage remotely within your time zone.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide career development feedback.
  • Monitor team health and implement engineering processes.
  • Represent your team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Promote best engineering and organizational practices.
  • Manage project goals and collaborate with leadership.

Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph.
  • Practical Linux and networking skills.
  • Experience in technical presales.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to develop and grow engineering talent.
  • Leadership experience in coaching and mentoring engineers.
  • Organizational skills to ensure timely, high-quality results.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%.

Preferred Additional Skills :

  • Second language (Spanish or French).
  • Python knowledge.
  • Experience with external partnerships and stakeholder feedback.
