About The Role

SearchStax is the leader in Open Source Search in the Cloud with headquarters in Los Angeles, CA, and teams across the United States and worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the SearchStax Cloud team, providing technical support to customers and ensuring the availability and reliability of our search service. We seek a self-motivated Linux and Systems Engineer passionate about professional service excellence, eager to build on their experience and make a significant impact on our cloud solutions.

As part of the Cloud Operations team, you will help manage and support our search-as-a-service platform, scaling it to serve thousands of customers globally. Your responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing open source and custom-built software.

Initiatives will include analyzing and improving application reliability, disaster recovery, cloud management, distributed systems, and cluster management.

This is a contract role. The successful candidate must participate in on-call shifts.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Engineers and Cloud Operations team members to ensure high availability and smooth daily operations.
  • Resolve customer support tickets and incidents promptly through effective investigation and resolution.
  • Maintain professional and respectful interactions with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Work within a 24x7x365 support team, managing handoffs across shifts.
  • Respond to escalated support issues efficiently.
  • Set up backups, deploy software, upgrade systems, and perform routine maintenance, using automation tools like Ansible or scripting languages.
  • Configure and generate reports and alerts using tools like Datadog or Zabbix.
  • Perform periodic security audits.
  • Handle service requests from customers or internal teams with high quality and adherence to SOPs.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

What You Must Have

  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • 2+ years of experience in Linux system administration (Ubuntu / CentOS).
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of networking issues (firewall, routing, load balancing).
  • Proficiency in scripting with Bash or Python.
  • Practical knowledge of MySQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB), including backup, replication, and optimization.
  • Experience with web server administration (Apache, Nginx).
  • Exposure to ITIL processes.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python) is a plus.

Pay Transparency

  • Base Salary : $30,000 - $40,000 USD.
