We are hiring an Engineering Manager...

This role offers an opportunity for a technologist passionate about Linux and Cloud technologies to build a career with Canonical and support those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. If you have an affinity for open source development and a passion for technology, you'll enjoy working with some of the best in the industry at Canonical.

The BootStack team designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers. You'll work with technologies like Kubernetes and OpenStack in a fast-paced environment. As a Cloud Engineering Manager, you will oversee the engineers managing day-to-day Managed Service of customer environments, including customer service, operations, and product improvement. Collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations is essential.

Location: This is a globally remote role.

The role entails:

  1. Managing a growing engineering team to optimize development and operations quality and velocity
  2. Identifying and measuring team health indicators
  3. Implementing disciplined engineering and operations processes
  4. Representing the BootStack team with stakeholders, customers, and external teams
  5. Ensuring team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  6. Meeting service level agreements with global customer deployments
  7. Delivering quality managed services consistently and timely

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s (or equivalent) in a technology field
  • Proven experience in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or managing operations teams
  • Experience with OpenStack
  • Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code
  • Linux system administration experience, Ubuntu/Debian preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Experience managing distributed teams
  • Technical understanding of complex distributed systems
  • Knowledge of cloud topologies and technologies
  • Willingness to travel (~20%) for team and customer meetings
