The role of Cloud Engineer (FinOps) operates in the Cloud Enablement Office (CEO) team and overall within our Cloud Acceleration & Transformation team. This role has a particular emphasis on Finance Operations (FinOps) in the public cloud. The Cloud Acceleration & Transformation (CA&T) team is a cross-functional group responsible for developing and managing the cloud strategy, governance, and best practices that the rest of the organization can leverage to transform the business using the cloud.

The CEO is recognised as the conduit for internal customers of Zurich’s multi-cloud platform to accelerate cloud adoption across the business and manage the roadmap for cloud migrations. The CEO product portfolio spans Advisory & Enablement, FinOps, Risk & Compliance and Education. The Cloud Engineer - FinOps role would appeal to a person who enjoys variety and developing opportunities within an evolving global function.

Your role

As a Cloud Engineer (FinOps), your main responsibilities will involve:

  1. Deliver FinOps operational process around invoicing, billing / chargeback, cost optimisation and cost controls.
  2. Perform FinOps analytics to enhance decision making processes and improving products and services around business cases, budgets, spend, cost savings and more.
  3. Maintain, develop and enhance FinOps solutions enabling lean operations for Zurich applications.
  4. Manage FinOps KPIs to demonstrate how cloud services align with the business objectives.
  5. Contribute to Cloud adoption programs, DevOps and Cloud value initiatives.
  6. Continuous alignment with Product Owners, Engineering and Operations functions with the cyclical development of an iterative cloud road map to plan for ongoing changes to services / platforms as technologies emerge and new features are requested by users.
  7. Maintain and nourish the engagement with Finance teams supporting the CA&T function.
  8. Contribute to cloud risk and compliance governance processes, ensuring CA&T obligations and responsibilities are upheld continuously.
  9. Manage all stakeholders in a trusted advisor capacity.
  10. Show initiative, own issues, and take on challenges on behalf of CEO and wider CA&T team.
  11. Become familiar with wider IT, CA&T Services and processes.
  12. Become familiar with and adhere to Zurich security and architecture policies.
Your Skills and Experience

As a Cloud Engineer (FinOps), your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  1. 3+ years’ experience delivering cost management in AWS or Azure environments, usage and billing services with relevant associated certifications.
  2. Financial management in AWS or Azure public cloud services in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  3. Proficiency with a Cloud FinOps specialist tool and / or Azure and / or AWS cost management services.
  4. Python, API integration, Azure DevOps or JIRA platform skills would be beneficial.
  5. Knowledge of Cloud service provider billing and invoicing processes.
  6. Relevant degree or diploma programme of study.
  7. Project, program or service delivery management experience in virtual / cloud infrastructures.
  8. Proven ability to succeed in collaborative work environments using Agile methodologies.
