A global association management company is seeking a Chief Partnerships Officer to lead fundraising and partnerships strategy. Key responsibilities include designing a global fundraising strategy and building strategic partnerships. Ideal candidates will have proven success in nonprofit fundraising and excellent communication skills. This role offers a remote work model with occasional global travel.

JOB SUMMARY :

The Chief Partnerships Officer (CPO) will lead WSAVA’s global fundraising and partnerships strategy, growing sustainable income and advancing mission-aligned collaborations. This role will elevate WSAVA’s global presence, develop innovative funding channels, and help position the association as the veterinary partner of choice. WSAVA resources are provided by Kenes Association Management. The role is on a self-employed contractor basis only.

Location : Remote with occasional global travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Fundraising Strategy and Delivery

  • Design and implement a multi-year global fundraising strategy and budget to drive sustainable, long-term income growth across multiple channels.
  • Identify, research, and develop a pipeline of prospective donors and funders from various sectors and regions.
  • Create compelling support cases and tailored proposals aligned with WSAVA’s mission.
  • Lead execution of annual campaigns and donor engagement initiatives with the Chief Communications Officer.
  • Pilot innovative fundraising approaches, including digital giving, crowdfunding, and cause-related marketing.
  • Explore opportunities with foundations, grant-makers, and social impact investors.
  • Monitor and report on fundraising performance and ROI to WSAVA leadership.

Strategic Partnership Development

  • Build and manage a sector-leading partnership program that positions WSAVA as a trusted collaborator delivering value and ROI.
  • Foster long-term relationships with industry and institutional partners, delivering mutual benefits.
  • Develop non-financial partnerships supporting WSAVA’s strategic goals (e.g., in-kind contributions, knowledge-sharing).
  • Collaborate internally to embed partnership value into programs and activities.
  • Highlight partnership impact stories to build visibility and future engagement.
  • Coordinate with WSAVA’s Professional Congress Organizer for partnership opportunities.
  • Global Engagement and Outreach

  • Represent WSAVA externally, enhancing visibility and trust among potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Adapt approaches for regional contexts, including low- and middle-income regions.
  • Develop culturally responsive, inclusive strategies for a global membership and partners.
  • Impact, Insight, and Reporting

  • Establish KPIs and systems to measure activity outcomes.
  • Produce professional reports for donors, partners, and governance.
  • Support strategic decision-making with insights for the Executive Director and Board.
  • Internal Collaboration and Capacity Building

  • Work with internal teams to align fundraising and partnership efforts.
  • Support regional and thematic partnership development.
  • Share tools and guidance to build capacity across WSAVA.
  • Ethics, Governance, and Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with legal and ethical standards (e.g., GDPR, anti-corruption).
  • Contribute to policy development on sponsorship and ethical fundraising.

  • Follow WSAVA policies and procedures.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as needed.

  • Strong proposal-writing, budgeting, and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent cross-cultural and senior-level communication skills.
  • Strategic planning, project management, and delivery skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, global team.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to transparency and inclusivity.
  • Genuine compassion for animals and the human–animal bond.
  • Desirable Criteria :

  • Experience in veterinary, scientific, healthcare, or animal welfare sectors.
  • Knowledge of funding landscapes for NGOs or professional associations.
  • Familiarity with digital fundraising platforms, CRMs, and analytics tools.
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin).
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and engagingly.
