With institutions across major European cities, we are actively searching for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team in Madrid, Spain (On-site).

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the Executive Team, reporting directly to the CEO. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the non-academic operations of Schiller International University, ensuring optimal performance, operational consistency, and support to academic excellence and student success. The COO will work cross-functionally to align resources, systems, and people with the strategic vision of the university.

  • Campus Operations : Ensure high-quality campus operations, student services, local compliance, and alignment with university-wide strategies.
  • Human Resources : Develop a dynamic, performance-driven, and values-aligned workforce across all campuses.
  • Finance : Enable sound financial planning, control, and reporting to support institutional sustainability and growth.
  • Information Technology : Deliver modern, secure, and efficient IT systems that enable academic innovation and operational excellence.
  • Operations & Facilities : Ensure the university’s physical and operational infrastructure supports a safe, sustainable, and engaging learning environment.
  • Education Technology : Champion the strategic use of educational technology to enhance learning and teaching.

What Experience will You Bring to the Role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent
  • Proven senior leadership experience in multi-site or international higher education or service-based organizations.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capacity.
  • Collaborative leadership style and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing change, scaling operations, and leading complex initiatives.

Languages

  • Any additional languages are a plus.
