• 2-3 years of experience as a Chief Accountant in an international finance organization.
• Solid knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and tax accounting principles.

DNV Regional Centre Finance Spain delivers high-quality services related to financial compliance and other financial services to Spain and other European countries. These Services are rendered in close collaboration with the Global Centre Finance in Gdynia, Poland, realizing the Global Shared Service Finance function for DNV.

We are seeking a Chief Accountant for our GSS Finance team based in Madrid, Spain.

To succeed in this role, you should be a caring and respectful team player with excellent communication skills and cultural awareness. You will supervise accounting operations to ensure compliance with internal & external reporting requirements for both Group and Statutory reporting purposes. You must be attentive to detail , aware of deadlines , and work well under pressure.

When employed, you will be a part of GSS Finance focusing on the overview of bookkeeping, providing finance advisory services to the organization, and being involved in financial reporting and compliance processes.

In this role, you will :

• Serve as the main point of contact for our Finance Department in Madrid and collaborate with various stakeholders regarding transactions carried out by our legal entities in Spain.
• Manage relationships with internal and external parties responsible for preparing statutory financial statements.
• Coordinate tax filings in cooperation with both internal and external partners.
• Take responsibility for financial bookkeeping.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure accruals are accurate and complete.
• Initiate monthly balance sheet reviews and follow up on any open or unreconciled items.
• Conduct monthly and quarterly trend analyses of balance sheet and P&L accounts.
• Monitor and manage cash flow forecasting for specific entities in collaboration with the Cash Management Team.
• Manage and coordinate both internal and external audits.
• Continuously develop, optimize, and standardize finance processes.

To maximize your chances, you need :

• Academic degree in Finance and Accounting or comparable qualification; formal ACCA or relevant qualification is a plus.
• 2–3 years of experience as a Chief Accountant.
• Solid experience in an international finance organization.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written).
• Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written).
• Solid knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Understanding of tax accounting principles to communicate effectively with a local vendor on local legislation (corporate tax, WHT, VAT, SII, local taxes, payroll taxes).
• Good understanding of all key business processes across functional areas.
• Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.
• Ability to track discrepancies to the core / primary transaction and implement effective resolution.
• Experience in financial controlling is an advantage.
