Job Description Summary

As a chemical technician at the Malaga Combined Cycle Power Plant, your primary functions involve the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and main cooling tower, reporting to the Chemical Engineer. You will control and maintain plant equipment such as pH meters, conductivity meters, and laboratory instrumentation, ensuring accurate measurements through calibration and verification. Additionally, you will interpret data, perform chemical laboratory analyses, and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content to meet legal requirements, with familiarity in water pollution standards.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities
  • Work within a maintenance team, directly involved in chemical control and operation, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct analytical tests for environmental impact, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, safety inspections, or sample testing.
  • Perform sampling and analysis necessary for proper plant operation and regulatory adherence.
  • Manage external laboratory samples.
  • Maintain equipment through corrective, preventive, and calibration procedures.
  • Control water treatment processes and chemical products.
  • Manage the discharge of chemical products and keep MSDS updated.
  • Perform duties as directed by the Power Plant Supervisor.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • Recognized tertiary qualification in Chemistry or Environment-related fields.
  • Practical knowledge of safety practices related to experimental design and laboratory procedures.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes.
  • Willingness to work outside the laboratory/office environment.
  • Valid B driver's license.
  • Training in relevant areas as required by the line manager.
Desired Characteristics
  • Forklift operation certification.
  • Legionella prevention training.
  • ADR (dangerous goods) training.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, fluent in Spanish.
