Job Description:

From ASTEK Iberia, and for our international partner's team, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Control Engineer with a background in Chemical Engineering or a Chemical Engineer interested in Control Engineering to join our Optimization team in Madrid. You will work in an international environment with a global leader in engineering and industrial software.

Principal Responsibilities
  1. Implement Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications.
  2. Participate in new online modeling projects, including analysis, specification, design, and development.
  3. Maintain RTO applications to ensure online process models function at over 95% uptime.
  4. Perform routine model adjustments and synchronization with plant operations.
  5. Maintain trusted relationships with customers through consultancy and proactive system use.
  6. Collaborate with the optimization team to improve project quality, timeliness, and application value.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
  • Degree in Control or Chemical Engineering or similar.
  • Understanding of chemical plant and refinery unit operations.
  • Experience in simulating distillation towers, compressors, heat-integrated systems, and refinery units.
  • Ability to analyze process simulation results and solve problems.
  • Proficiency with computers and related applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of process control and model predictive control.
  • Experience with network communication protocols like OPC.
  • Skills in Visual Basic for Excel, SQL, and scripting languages such as TCL.
  • Additional languages such as German, French, or Russian are a plus.
  • PhD or 3-4 years of relevant experience is valued.
