About the role

Are you an experienced Pressure Equipment Directive professional? At BSI, we have a new position for a Certification Manager to join us. You will manage the development, implementation, and future activities related to the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014 / 68 / EU (PED). Your role includes providing technical expertise on pressure equipment to support inspection and certification activities related to the PED / TPED. You will also undertake assessment activities within BSI’s certification bodies, including EN ISO / IEC 17021-1 Certification Body and EN ISO 17020 Type A Inspection Body, and develop relationships with clients, participating in customer events to support business growth.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience / Competencies

• Chartered Engineer with at least 5 years experience in a senior technical / management role in a pressure-related industry (preferred) or equivalent experience as determined by the PED Technical Manager.
• Deep knowledge of design practices, manufacturing codes, materials, welding, inspection (including NDT), pressure testing, and certification.
• Commercial awareness of pressure equipment manufacture and inspection processes.
• Technical understanding of the PED, relevant standards, and affected industries.
• Strong communication skills, with experience in training and presentations in complex technical fields.

About you

This is a client-facing role requiring excellent customer service, communication, and influencing skills. You should have broad knowledge of pressure-related equipment, standards, and the PED. You must be able to manage your time effectively, prioritize tasks, and plan ahead. Ideally, you are a Chartered Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in a senior technical or management role within the pressure industry.
