Job Description

Title: Teacher

Program: MAOF Child Care/Pre-School (Monterey County)

Salary: $21.98 per hour

Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Closing Date: Open until filled

General Purpose

To deliver direct care, guidance, and instruction to children at the MAOF Child Care and Development Centers, promoting social, physical, and intellectual growth aligned with developmental stages.

Responsibilities and Authority
  • Instruct and supervise groups of children, prepare lesson plans, assess development, and supervise staff and volunteers.
  • Create a supportive learning environment and integrate educational activities across various areas.
  • Ensure safety, organize routines, and involve parents in education.
  • Maintain documentation, conduct health checks, and hold parent conferences.
  • Supervise staff, work individually with children needing extra support, and ensure safety at all times.
  • Build relationships with parents, serve as mandated reporter, and participate in meetings and planning activities.
Requirements
  • Valid Teacher Permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • At least one year of preschool/childcare classroom experience.
  • 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, including Infant and Toddler units if applicable.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of teaching principles, strong communication skills, and computer literacy.
  • Complete mandated reporter training within 90 days.
  • Clearances for criminal records and health requirements, including vaccinations.
Physical Demands

Requires frequent use of hands, talking, sitting, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities include close and peripheral vision.
