Air Canada is seeking a Cargo Operations Manager in Madrid to oversee operational service delivery and safety for its cargo product. Responsibilities include compliance with safety standards and managing costs within budget, while also ensuring quality service and customer satisfaction. The role requires strong management experience in a cargo operational environment, knowledge of cargo operations, and proficiency in MS Office applications.

Formación

  • Minimum 5 years in cargo operations, with 2 years in supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of Madrid Airport and key cargo players.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, Portuguese is an asset.

Responsabilidades

To be accountable for all aspects of operational service delivery and safety for Air Canada’s cargo product at Madrid Airport, ensuring 100% compliance with all relevant Aviation Security regulations and practices. With the Cargo Operations Manager – France, Spain and Portugal, support the process to Procure and manage the ground handling contracts at MAD, driving operational activities to support commercial targets, and performance manage all sub-contractors ensuring service quality and customer satisfaction metrics are achieved. Manage all Direct Operating Cost within an agreed budget. Support the Cargo Operations Manager with other Spain & Portugal stations as need be.

Accountabilities (Responsibilities) :

  • Responsible for the delivery of operational safety at MAD Airport, in accordance with Air Canada’s safety standard, policies and procedures
  • Ensure Safety, Security and Service standards are observed, monitored, and practiced consistently by our GHA and any other 3rd party suppliers
  • Ensure the application of SMS for the MAD operation and co-ordinate and provide corrective action plans for any safety related incidents submitted through SIMS
  • Compliance with IOSA standards
  • Responsibility for the delivery of agreed Standard Operating Procedures
  • Responsible for overall delivery of agreed operational service levels at MAD Airport
  • Ensure focus on all Cargo iQ Measures
  • Investigate any loading irregularities and action in accordance with Air Canada processes and policy
  • Monitor compliance with corporate SOP’s
  • Ensure ULD equipment levels are adequately maintained to allow the operation to run effectively
  • Oversee and verify all Direct Operating Costs for the MAD cargo operation within agreed budget
  • Continuous and effective management of our 3rd Party GHA to :

Deliver a quality of service to our customers that supports the business needs

  • Challenge and action any service / safety deficiencies in accordance with Air Canada’s processes and policies
  • Responsible for developing an action plan in relation to any Audit findings
  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of trucking network throughout Spain
  • In alignment with CNC, ensure continuous dialog with Uniload to ensure compliant ULD management
  • Approval of applicable 3rd party and GHA invoices
  • Provide representation for Air Canada Cargo at any applicable regulatory bodies at MAD Airport as required (eg : airport authorities, customs authorities etc )
  • Develop Customer relationships from an Operational perspective to support the commercial effort

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5yrs working in a cargo operational environment, with at least 2yrs at a management / supervisory level
  • Knowledge of MAD Airport, Cargo customers and main key players
  • Proficient user of MS Office Suite applications
  • Good working knowledge of setting and monitoring budgets

Conditions of Employment :

Linguistic Requirements

Fluent in English and Spanish – Portuguese an asset. Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual candidates.
