Position

We are looking for a Business Development Specialist, based in Madrid, for a long-term position (CDI), who will be responsible for supporting BD & Marketing initiatives for our Spanish Transactional Group, covering Private Equity, M&A, Debt Finance, Capital Markets, Tax, Dispute resolution and Antitrust.

The successful candidate will be working with entrepreneurial partners and senior BD team members. The key to success in this role is to bring energy, ideas, commitment and organisation to the table.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Leading responses to requests for proposals, capability statements, presentations and other client facing materials (typically working to tight deadlines), working directly with the partners. These materials must be client ready and convey the strengths of the Firm concisely and convincingly, often involving significant original research and writing.
  • Provide proactive and organized BD support to the partners and BD Manager of the Spanish Group to deliver against objectives.
  • Conducting client, market, sector and decision maker research and analysis.
  • Developing effective marketing campaigns and client alerts, including monitoring the office’ client contact lists.
  • Ensuring efficient events planning and driving client events, seminars, and other conference sponsorships from conception to full execution.
  • Drafting compelling awards and directory submissions to raise the profile of the office and Investment Funds section, working directly with partners.
  • Writing as needed for marketing communications, including website, social media, and other content.
  • Maintaining lawyers’ biographies and ensuring matters are correctly profiled and entered into the Firm’s Matter Profile System database, and opportunities are captured in the Firm’s CRM database.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader BD and Marketing team in EMEA.
  • Other ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be a university graduate with at least 5 years of experience, of which minimum 3 years working in a marketing position for another global law firm.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral – in English and Spanish.

  • The ability to learn and build on knowledge of complex projects.

  • The ability to engage, build strong relationships and gain confidence of colleagues at all levels.
  • Good systems and database skills including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel. CRM applications are a plus.

Location and Reporting

This is a BD Specialist role based in Madrid, reporting to the Spanish BD and Marketing Manager, based in Madrid.
