Job Description

UL Solutions is a leading management and technical consultancy to the renewable energy industry, with a diverse client portfolio including many of the world's leading energy developers and investors.

We are currently seeking a Business Development Specialist to grow our offshore advisory business globally.

As a member of the business development and sales organization, you will be responsible for expanding our offshore technical advisory business and footprint among developers, investors, and supply chain companies in this space.

While the role will be based in the UK (ideally), this position will be responsible for the global offshore client growth strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand UL Solutions relationships with offshore advisory renewable customers including developers, utilities, asset owners, operators, investors, and lenders.
  • Engage with potential developers, investors, and supply chain companies to understand their development plans and identify support opportunities.
  • Promote our offshore advisory capabilities with existing and new clients, including Technical Advisory support for M&A transactions, Energy Advisory, and Asset Advisory services.
  • Define business growth plans and go-to-market strategies in collaboration with the Global Offshore Advisory Services Director.
  • Identify prospective new customers and establish positive business relationships with them.
  • Participate in proposals with clearly defined scope, client deliverables, and budgets.
  • Support sector and client strategy development and conduct market analyses as needed.
  • Attend conferences, webinars, and events to promote UL Solutions and develop client relationships.
  • Identify and develop offshore wind project opportunities.
  • Work with the sales team to identify potential clients and leverage relationships for offshore opportunities.
  • Engage proactively with clients, respond to RFPs, RFQs, and PQs.
  • Manage pipeline development and opportunities through to contract signing, focusing on offshore wind services.
  • Support proposal development and client delivery.
  • Monitor and log opportunities and completed jobs in UL Solutions' project management software.
  • Maintain ongoing customer relationships and develop regional account plans.
  • Lead or support client meetings and engagements at appropriate levels.

Qualifications

  • University degree; project management qualifications are a plus.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the offshore wind market, focusing on UK/EU.
  • Strong understanding of offshore wind advisory services and market dynamics.
  • Deep knowledge of UK and European offshore wind markets, clients, and supply chains; secondary understanding of APAC and NA markets.
  • Proven track record in client engagement, opportunity management, and business development.
  • Understanding of offshore wind technology and advisory scopes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Commercially inquisitive, results-oriented, and able to work with unstructured input.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Personable, team-oriented, and able to build relationships quickly.
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
